I'd like to point out first, because I think this is important at least to me, I love ALDER'S name. It's such a perfect character name---swoony and mysterious as his character is. He's dark mistakes has been clouding his present and all he ever wanted is redemption. Forgiveness was what he's been praying for a long time. Jayne and Alder's interactions had held my breath for 'what ifs.' Alder's big secret had added a suspense twist to this book. When the cat was finally out of the bag, my emotions overflowed. Whispered Lies is a tearjerker. It's very inspirational and uplifting.
A short but definitely a meaty read, you'll feel overwhelmed with the beauty of life represented by Alder and Jayne's story. A story of forgiveness, redemption, trust and belief in love.
"And that's what love did, put the other ahead of itself."
"My past could define me, or it could refine me."
Whispered Lies was a story of emotion, grief, loss, blame, regret, forgiveness, healing, love, and starting over. The characters were real and the story line was all consuming. This book is told from dual POV so we get to hear from both Jayne and Alder, and you get an insight into both of their thoughts. The circumstances, or path if you will that brought Jayne and Alder together was a difficult one full of pain and suffering. But through this amazing complicated journey these two find hope and a new start.
Jayne and Alder are college students, and through circumstances have experienced more than anyone should at their age. As the book progresses you watch these characters grow and develop and it's nothing short of amazing. The choices that Adler makes directly affect Jayne and her family. Jayne has a very difficult time dealing with the series of events that transpire. She has a hard time coming to terms with her loss and has some deeply rooted anger. Alder also has a very difficult dark times coming to terms with what happened and learning to heal. Through it all he finds a friend and a purpose who helps him throughout. Alder knowing what he has taken from Jayne, and trying to find some sort of forgiveness, finds himself looking out for her in many ways. Alder completely turns his life around, helping others, giving in any way that he can, yet he still feels as though its not enough.
"Love doesn't take," Raphael said.
And I was pretty sure the price would kill me,
ripping what was left of my soul from my body.
An unexpected event happens as Alder is watching Jayne from afar and he must step in to save her. When these two meet ... fireworks happen!!! Alder has loved Jayne from afar for quiet some time, and Jayne feels safe simply being in his presence. Alder knows that given his past they can not be together so he does his best to keep his distance but it is the most difficult thing he has ever done because he is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. Knowing that Jayne is falling for him and how he already feels about her Alder tells Jayne who he is and about his past.
Will Jayne be able to forgive him and move on?!?!
Will her need for justice and revenge destroy them both?!?
WHISPERED LIES.... I'd like to say that this story is about us! It is timeless and can be read so many times.
We always go through our lowest points in life, lose hope and of course, experience wonderful moments--in different stages , in different forms, in different levels but all in all we feel the same emotions although with different intensity of how it will affect our lives. This is what this book is all about.. It is heart wrenching, it is a story about loss, forgiveness and the hardest part, moving on because a part of your heart dies and most importantly, it is story of hope,of healing and will make you realized that there's still hope and what you do will never define you for who you really are.
THIS IS A MUST READ!
