From the Author
This is the second book I co-authored with Michael Davis. The first one was Veil of Deception, which takes place in Big Mike's local stomping grounds of Virginia and was based on an outline he developed. Per our agreement, Whispers of Innocence takes place in my home state of Arizona and is based on a story idea I developed initially. I used the local and national news as inspiration and I think the book has a good sense of reality - of being a story you might read about on the front page of a newspaper and eagerly wait for updates. I hope you enjoy the complex plot and the characters with whom Big Mike and I loved getting to know.
From the Back Cover
Corpses abandoned in the desert. An unidentified drug crossing the US-Mexican border. A power-hungry religious cult in an isolated community.
While these could be headlines ripped from today's newspapers, it's the plot of Whispers of Innocence.
Enoch Smith, a psychotic cult leader, uses more than his flock to execute God's wrath on a sinful nation. Drake Elliot, US Marshal, returns to Arizona to find those responsible for injuring his son and maiming himself during a violent act to silence an informer. Micki Lewis, a journalist in Tucson, receives a tip regarding the origins of the latest drug to hit Alta Vista, home of Enoch's Children of God community.
Drake and Micki join forces to uncover the cult's secrets and its success helping children like Drake's son recover normalcy. What they find is far worse than drugs coming across the border and provides answers to the shadows that haunt their dreams.
