Whistler CR Series Laser Radar Detectors
The Whistler CR series laser radar detectors are a high performance, professional grade dash models which detect all new lasers used in North America. Each CR series model detects X band, K band, Super Wideband Ka, and laser protection - the only 4 bands used for speed measurement. They also feature POP Mode detection, an advanced speed detection capability that responds to brief bursts of radar.
Equipped with 360° Maxx Coverage which provides complete perimeter protection, detecting signals from the front, sides, and rear. Traffic Flow Signal Rejection (TFSR) helps eliminate alerts from radar based traffic flow sensors. It features 3 city modes/highway modes (City, City 1, and City 2) to reduce the annoyance of false alerts.
Standard Features Include:
- High Gain Lens: Provides an increased field of view, as well as a longer range of detection
- Alert Priority: Displays the most important signal when more than one is detected
- Safety Warning System: Keeps you informed of highway saftey where transmitters are located
- Stay Alert: Test your alertness on long trips
Flashing LED lights provide an additional visual notification.
Each model is equipped with either an OLED display or a color icon display with numeric signal strength indicator.
Each laser radar detector includes a windshield bracket kit, a 12V DC power cord, and an instruction manual.
Select CR models are compatible with the Whistler Intellicord (sold separately). The Intellicord offers an upgrade to the standard 12V DC power cord and allows users to remotely control power on/off, city modes, dim/dark, and quiet/auto quiet settings.

The Whistler CR90 laser radar detector is a high performance, professional grade dash model which detects all radar guns used today with total band protection, including X-band, K-band, Superwide Ka-band, and laser. Total laser detection identifies Laser Atlanta Stealth mode, Laser Ally, and the new LTI Truspeed S. It's equipped with a pre-installed internal GPS database to alert you to speed and red light traffic camera locations in the United States and Canada, which can be updated via USB. Delivers 360 degrees of complete perimeter protection, detecting signals from the front, sides, and rear. Features Radar Signature ID (RSID) which is a Ka-band radar identifier that displays Ka 33.8, 34.0, 34.3, 34.7, or 35.5 when detecting these common Ka speed radar systems. Laser Signature ID (LSID) indicates the Pulses Per Second (PPS) transmitted by speed laser or other forms of laser sources. The POP Mode detection feature is an advanced speed detection capability that responds to brief bursts of radar. Traffic Flow Signal Rejection (TFSR) helps eliminate alerts from radar based traffic flow sensors and 6 filter modes reduce false alerts caused from other radar detectors. The low emission design makes it difficult to be detected by VG-2 and other radar detector detectors. This laser radar detector includes real voice alerts and an OLED text display that shows alerts and signal strength and contains many other features, such as Stay Alert, vehicle battery saver, 3 city modes, highway mode, and alert priority that make this a top notch detector. Measures 4.93" L x 3.12" W x 1.31" H, and includes the radar detector, a 12V power cord, USB update cord, dash pad, windshield bracket kit, user guide, and a limited 1 year manufacturer warranty.

my configs: all bands on KA set to maxid, tfsr on, no pop. I traveled at a minimum 10 over max 20 over
VA- cops everywhere thing picked every single one of them around corners and hills, had to set it on the dash cause its illegal there much harder to see and it still worked well.
WV- nothing meaning didn't see cops
Illinois- this one was hot cops and traffic cams, first and only full x band from a state trooper, also laser but Chicago traffic was so busy I can't see any cop chasing someone without getting killed.
Wisconsin- decided to turn on pop mode big mistake, it greatly reduces the range please use that one at your own risk, don't know why I didn't get pulled over there.
Minnesota- only state where I passed cops and nothing went off don't know if they are personally looking for speeders and then turn their radar on as soon as you pass, they all wait in the center median so keep eyes open.
North dakota- one cop trying to hide at a gas station it's so open out there the Whistler has unbelievable range, was FLYING!!!
Montana- cops use the old Texas technique where they all drive on the other side of the highway clocking traffic passing them across the median, as soon as you speed pass them they 180 around the median and get you. Your range is reduce with this technique but so are theres, your driving 70 the cop is driving 70 the other way with 140 difference, you must be quick here to stop as soon as the cr90 warns you.
Washington- cops use laser here and traffic cams are EVERYWHERE, still speed through it though most cops use ka. Lots of unmarked cop cars though so be careful
Alaska- few cops open range lots of mountains cops can't really hide
Canada- speed limit was 55 for 400 miles of nothing drove 70 and picked off one cop passing me.
I say this was a great investment for the price, just because you see the cop in the distance when the cr90 goes off does not mean he has you yet I am a prime example of that for sure. Make sure you mount it mid way on windshield not low it reduces range. The KA-ID is the best feature as well as the custom features selection. Must be careful in metro areas. Don't blare music or wear headphones/blue tooth to the point that you can't hear the system go off you only have a second or two stay alert.
The unit replaced Whistler XTR-555, which died untimely early death (speakers made no more sounds). In comparison with the XTR-555 the system CR70 seems to have better performace, but I could not do side by side performance test due to XTR-555's early demise.
For the price it is perfectly acceptable performance. However, my preference and recommendation is to go up in performance to next tier product such as Beltronic.
