Jessie B. Tyson was born, raised and educated in Cumbria, England. She has worked in Canada and England as a Community Support Worker, mostly with disabled adults, and she volunteers regularly.
Jessie first began writing children's and fantasy stories, and then moved on to adult readers. She's always enjoys turning her dreams into something readable. <br Jessie currently lives in Victoria, BC, with her two kitties and her vivid imagination.
I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.
White Heaven Women was a wonderful surprise. The imagery of the historic element of this book was so well done and accurate in my opinion. The attitude towards woman, social classes and special needs children is heartbreaking but so true to that era.
The modern aspect of White Heaven Women is also well done. The intertwining of the two is an adventure that I enjoyed very much. The ghosts, reincarnation aspect and just plain strange occurrences give this book an entirely other element that is exciting.
Jessie Tyson gives us an historic element, mystery, paranormal presences and romance. She kept me intrigued and turning pages to find out what would happen next.
You will enjoy meeting Beth, Sally and Constance and the many supporting characters you will fall in love with, especially Patrick. There are also a few you will love to hate. Some just plain cruel and some possessed.
I highly recommend this book for lovers of paranormal with an historic romance element.
Let's go all paranormal. I love the author Jessie (who I met on twitter), she is the paranormal version of Agatha Christie. Jessie has this wonderful writing style which combines English eccentricity with a frantic grab hold of your arm type urgency. You feel the author is desperate to tell this story and you as reader feel you must find out about what all the fuss is about. Brilliant. .
Sally is our main character in the book.. let's face it, everything she does, everything she thinks or even looks at has blue ectoplasmic manifestations hovering over it and her life is so paranormal that to her the paranormal is in fact normal.
Sally's life is all strange dreams and odd encounters with the hidden worlds beyond the mysterious curtain of sleep and death. Sally has one foot in this world and another in the spirit world. But has no idea what it all means...
We need some help here so,,, Sally calls the all seeing psychic Mrs Harris who for a consideration will tell you half of the story.. Put even more cash on the table she will tell you a bit more. Only when Mrs Harris has empted your bank account will she spill the beans.
Sally there is a message coming in... two children, a woman who lived in the past are contacting you .. But why?.. That will be another £200 luv...I loved the Mrs Harris character. Winter is the time to read about such paranormal goings on.
I read this book with sound of the autumn wind blowing in the trees outside ,very late at night. This book is well written and highly entertaining. It's set in White Haven in Cumbria, which or witch is on the coast. looking out across the water is Ireland. If you drive over the North Yorkshire moors from where I live.. head North west. There is Cumbria, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe.. the English lake district.
The women are mostly witches, and the men are all taxi drivers as there are few buses in this part of the world. They still have those wicker man human sacrifices in spring up in the hills so if they invite you to a "May poll" dance... run.... Anyway a brilliant book, by a brilliant writer (our Jessie), Moreover, the story is set in a wonderful part of the world...
I hope people will buy the book as Jessie is a great character in her own right, her paranormal writing really has style .This was a review of the kindle edition and the book is highly recommended.
This book is about Sally and how her present life came to be.
I loved how the author started out in present tense and then went back in time tracing back history with Sally's ancestor's explaining re-encarnation and how each character came to be. The details in each time period are very good. It made you feel you could actually picture the character in each time and place.
Took me a while to start reading this book, but once I started it was very hard to put down. A few sitting on the edge of my seat episodes. A great read. Will be looking for more from this author. Will read this book over and over again.
One of the best books I have read in a very long time. Jessie has the talent to reach deep inside the reader and allows the reader to open up their minds to a world that is not easy to understand or believe. Her ability to create a story line involving characters whom the reader can feel so connected to and Jessie's writing talent that touches the deep emotions inside her readers are well beyond most books sold on Amazon today. At around the 97% mark of this book, I found myself surprisingly feeling tears running down my face. I am not an easy person to reach, but Jessie, well done you did it!!! I am confident this writer will some day be on the Best Seller's List. She is already at the top of the list as far as I am concerned. Get that next book out there, my housework can wait!!
I don't write many reviews, I think this is my third one. I'm just not sure how to describe this book beyond saying it's like riding a two wheeled tricycle! It was a bit bumpy!
I really really did like the idea of the book, the characters, the descriptions, BUT sometimes I wasn't sure what just happened. I'll be reading along and BAM, complete change of storyline or limited description of what took place before moving on which seemed to cause confusion (to me anyway).
The book seemed much longer than the 194 pages listed, but I honestly did enjoy the story and characters. Honestly, I would probably give it 3.5 stars if that were possible.
This novel is compellingly written and the reader is kept with the first-person main character until the last pages. Ms Tyson draws on her own experience and her northern UK upbringing to give us a really believable tale of the supernatural. Her characters are wonderful and I would definitely recommend this novel for those who enjoy a good ghost story. Her style is consistent with her main character's point of view throughout and I was never drawn into a disappointing scene. I read it in a very short time, and was left wanting more.
