I want to emphasize that this review is for the product shipped by MediaExpo only. I have had too many bad experiences with other vendors on Amazon who have tried to pass their 80-gram junk as 100-gram.
If you do not have experience with sleeves, take my advice and save yourself the headache, spend the extra few dollars, and go with 100 gram. You will be glad you did. Also, make sure whatever sleeves you buy ship with the flaps unfolded (but scored) as I cannot imagine why anyone would want to have to unfold the sleeve first before inserting the disc. MediaExpo is a highly recommended vendor for this product.
They come in packages of 100 inside an outer box. I think they will do the job but wow, these are the thinest, lightest paper sleeves I've ever seen. They not only are cheap, they feel cheap and the paper is less than perfectly white, it's not a color but it's not pure white which adds to the cheap appearance. Time will tell if the glue that holds these together will remain good. I'm probably going to look for something a little higher quality next time I buy more. For two-cents a sleeve I should not be complaining.
If you need a LOT of white CD sleeves for cheap, these are the right thing.
Maybe I'm biased... I started a project to inventory, catalog and file my CD / DVD / BD collection which has well over 1000 disks. I got some Memorex brand at Walmart to get started and then ordered these. The Memorex ones, while more expensive, are MUCH better quality. I'm throwing these in the bin and spending better money. Too bad Amazon doesn't sell the Memorex ones!
UPDATE: I purchased these for $14.99 (free shipping). The price has gone up significantly since then. I will give it a one or two star at this price.
After getting these CD DVD sleeves I noticed that the paper itself felt thinner than what I normally purchase locally. I then noticed that the flap (the part that folds over to close the sleeve) was not pre-folded. I then decided to check out my suspicions on paper thickness and durability of the sleeves.
As I was a Aviation Machinist I still had some of the tools required to make correct measurements of the thickness of paper. Grabbing a pair of calipers I set the digital gauge to 0.000 and took a measurement of the thickness of the paper. The paper thickness to the sleeves I had purchased from Amazon was 0.002 (2 thousandths of an inch thick). I then measured the thickness of the paper to the Memorex sleeve and found that its thickness was twice that of the other sleeves purchased 0.004 (4 thousandths of an inch thick). I then decided to measure the width of the sides (the part of the side flap that folds over the edge of the sleeve and is glued to the back paper of the sleeve). The sleeve I had purchased measured 0.568 and the Memorex measured 0.592. I then looked carefully at the part of the sleeve had bothered me most when attempting to close the sleeve, the flap. Because the paper of the Memorex sleeve was thicker the actual *line* where the flap folds over to close the sleeve was much more pronounced. The actual *line* on the sleeves I purchased from Amazon was barely discernible, one could easily mistake (as I had done) where exactly one should fold the flap over when attempting to fold close the flap over and close the sleeve.
After using several more sleeves I placed then in a separate box and continued packing other DVD but using the remaining sleeves I purchase a Walmart made by Memorex. A few minutes later I decided to used another sleeve purchansed at Amazon and when attempting to fold over the flap to close the sleeve it ripped. I took all the sleeves I had used previously and replaced them back inside the original box. Unfortunately, when I went online to check the return policy I discovered that I had purchased these sleeves in September and am over the 30 day return policy as prescribed by Amazon.
I will attempt to contact Amazon and see if I can return this item even though the possibility exists that no refund will occur. In closing, sometimes a better deal in *price* does not pan out in the end. I hope my review helps others not to make the same mistake. Thanks.
