I could not find any flaws in this book. Lexie is a strong and independent character. Jack is also a likable character and they complement each other in the story. The twin girls, Tuck and Addy, that Jack finds in his deceased uncle's house were endearing. The grown up versions of the twins are in the sequels White River Song and then White River Sunrise. The romance between Lexie and Jack was sweet. This is one of the best Heartsong Presents that I have read so far!

After a rough start filled with misunderstandings, Lexie Rayton and Jack Sullivan work together to do what is best for two orphaned twins. As they navigate a string of problems, they turn to God. But will He open their hearts to more than just the twins?

I enjoyed Lexie and Jack’s story, and the twins were delightfully real-to-life. However, occasionally a stilted sentence slipped in, like “Rolling hills studded with oak and cedar trees met his surveillance.” Also one sentence left out “didn’t,” and it was crucial to the meaning. I found the novel interesting until the end. However, the ending, although happy, was weaker than the rest of the book. I was torn between rating it a four or a five, so I gave it 4.5, which rounded up to a five.

Era 1889, Alexandra Marie Rayton "Lexie" and her brother Will is caring for the family farm. Their parents died in a wagon accident. Will is engaged to Sarah Jenkins and Lexie wants to leave home. Lexie is caring for twin girls that are orphans.

Jack Sullivan has a riverboat and wants to adopt the twins, will there be love between Jack and Lexie? Will they be able to adopt the twins?

This is a fast paced, easy to read light romance novel. The characters are believable, the plot was simple but entertaining, there were no real mysteries just a sweet novel. Enjoy.

I am often hesitant to read the 'Truly Yours' books. Not because they're bad, but because they usually end up being just a way to kill an hour or two. I've read several that are little more than fluff. This one, however, I liked. Of course, part of the fun for me was that I live in the area where this book is set! Didn't realize that until I started reading, and then it's like, 'Been there; know exactly where you're talking about.'
The story was good, too. When Jack Sullivan finds two orphaned girls, he's not sure what to do with them. All he knows is that while he hates the thought of dumping them at an orphanage, he can hardly take them aboard his paddleboat with him.
Lexie Rayton dreams of some kind of independence, having lived so long with her brother and aunt, but she can't resist the girls. And, after a rocky start, Jack begins to grow on her, too. With her brother soon to marry, caring for the girls in Lexie's home becomes impractical, and there seems to be only one solution. Lexie, however, has always dreamed of marrying for love, so how can she settle for a marriage of convenience?
Not a heavy read, but a sweet, fun one, anyway.

Having lived near the White River I found it interesting to learn what this area was like in the late 19th century. The Ozarks have always been interesting and a beautiful place to live. Frances Devine depicts the spirit of cooperation and kindness that used to exist there.

It took a man and a woman several confusing incidents to understand each other and understand what was going on in their relationship, but oh what an ending!
