"Amy Blake was successful in holding my interest from page one. Her ability to parallel aspects of history while nuancing her characters is noteworthy. In the midst of an era where enlightenment about America's racial history is of the utmost importance, Blake proves timely. I see great things in her writing future."--Jacqueline Wheelock, author of A Most Precious Gift
"What a delightful debut by author Amy C. Blake! I knew this was my type of story when I read the description: spooky happenings in an old plantation house turned colledge Administration building; a murder mystery from the past; and quirky characters in a small Southern town. I loved the fact that, although the protagonist is a college-aged young woman, a number of important characters are elderly. And the author deals realistically with problems the elderly--and their caretakers--face."--Robin Johns Grant, author of Jordan's Shadow
"Amy C. Blake wrote a great example of Deep South culture. To me, she rivals Terri Blackstock at her best and has quickly made a fan of me."--Rebel Book Reviews
"I love this story. From the very first scene when we meet the eighteen-year-old college-bound Patience, we are immersed in her life. Blake constructs a story inhabited by lovable, quirky characters so real you hate for the story to end. Small-town deep south to a "T"--sweet tea, and lots of it, please. But there's a deep, dark secret lurking in the small town of Hades, Mississippi. One that will keep you turning pages till the end. This book is appropriate for middle grades, YA, and anyone else who loves a good story with a positive message."--Betty Thomason Owens, author of Annabelle's Ruth
From the Author
I hope you enjoy reading my Christian suspense, Whitewashed. It was a lot of fun to write. The second book in this series, Colorblind, releases in early 2016. It's about Patience's friend Christy and is set in Buckeye Lake, Ohio.

She's dismayed not only at the emphasis on the sports program, but also on her grandfather's obsession with getting rid of the college president. Her work assignment turns into a nightmare as strange happenings crowd her days.
Although her name is, "Patience," she struggles to exhibit that trait. Yet, it's evident she desires to do the right thing and please God. Will her lack of patience be her downfall or will mercy and grace pull her out of a truly scary situation?
Amy C. Blake is a new-to-me author. The book started off a bit slow for me but soon picked up the pace. The unfolding mystery and potential love interest kept me engaged. A few red herrings made me wonder if I had the right villains nailed. She pulled off an exciting climax and a satisfying ending.
This book is suitable for the YA crowd, as well as adults. I'm giving Whitewashed 5 Stars.

I will admit that the plot, while a zesty page-turner, is maybe a bit melodramatic for some, but overall, this writer is definitely worth checking out. The follow-up books in this trilogy are going to be much-anticipated pleasures.
As a voracious reader, I salute Amy on two levels. This story has Christian elements to it, but they are truly well done – not cheesy or melodramatic, as too many books in this genre tend to be. I admire writers whose gospel moments have style and nuance; Amy’s work succeeds abundantly on that score. Secondly, the book itself, offered by an emerging start-up publisher, is very well presented. The e-book is pristine and error-free, which is a nice surprise. Kudos to both Ms. Blake and Mantle Rock for a quality product.
