Whitmor Over The Door Shoe Organizer
Store up to 36 pairs of shoes
Finally, an over the door shoe storage solution for all types of shoes, for both men and women! Most shoe racks follow a ‘one size fits all’ approach. The problem with that being not all shoes within our collection are alike leaving you with a 'sort of' shoe storage solution. Whitmor’s unique, patented design solves this problem.
With Whitmor’s unit, each bar has the ability to flip up which creates more space for the row below. This allows you to store taller heels, boots, or high top tennis shoes with ease, without the bar above getting in the way.
Another nice feature to the bars is the non-slip coating which helps keep shoes in place, without falling over or onto the floor every time you open/ close the door.
See More Benefits Below:
Non-slip door pads help stabilize the shoe rack and prevent scratches to your door.
Shoes Don't Slip and Slide

ALSO, there is NO indication that there is an issue of how wide the closet doors should be. I have two 24" doors on a wide closet. It fits on the door, alright, but the inside door knob has to be removed. EVEN THEN, the door won't shut without each 'shelf' dragging the door facing as it was trying to close! I was able to cut at least 1/2-5/8" off the 'hinge side' metal hanger, and now it BARELY will shut (with, at times, a shelf STILL dragging, lightly, the door facing). I wanted the shoe rack, and was contemplating cutting an inch off each of the 24 rods(yuk!), just to make it work. I may still have to if it starts marking the door facing.
As you can see in the photos the door does loose some clearance but in my case not so much that entering the closet is impossible or too limiting.
Also, my shoes are women's size 8. Sneakers, hiking shoes and Chucks don't fit three across completely flush. So anything bigger than size 8 would need to be tilted or otherwise placed differently. Wedge heels are a tight fit but doable, high heels fit just fine. Some people have complained that the rack falls apart but if you tap pieces in place solidly, it should solve that problem. I have just put it together this afternoon, so if I experience any problems I will come back and edit my review.
Immediate disclaimer: I mounted it on a wall, not over a door. I hate how it blocks the doorway, or that sound shoe racks make when they swing out and then swing back and hit the door - hate it.
Anyway. This rack is surprisingly sturdy for being 90% plastic. The bars go up & down very smoothly, and are a great feature. I thought for sure I'd need two of these... Nope. Holds all my shoes, and I have one bar folded up (so technically losing 3 pairs of space... Don't need it.)
To hang, I cut the tops off the over-the-mounts, screwed those into the wall, and then hung the rack from the originally intended clips. I still used the Velcro for the joints in the middle, but my rack is resting against the floor of my closet, so I'm not sure they're doing much. (I did also screw the rack into the wall along the floor, just in case, but this seemed very very unnecessary. Or so my husband told me. I did it anyway.)
I'm digging this thing. It's not a glamorous shoe rack - nothing made out of plastic can be - but it does the job well.
Last tip: turning one shoe on its side made it so I could even fit 3 pairs of running/gym shoes on one bar. Super impressed.
These were very easy to assemble. I put the sides together first, and then put the rods into one side so they stood like a picket fence, and then laid it on the side and lightly connected the rods to the other side before bringing it back up with one side on the ground and the rods up and down, and pressing with all my might until they sort of clicked together. When I hung it over my door it looked kind of squiggly, like one side wasn't touching the door but the other was flush. I used the mini sticky tabs they had to keep it temporarily in place. When I added my shoes it evened out on it's own.
I came home from work about two weeks after I got the hanger and my closet door was partially opened. I opened it the rest of the way and behold! The side connector had actually snapped off. I was pretty upset. I called the company and they sent me two replacement sides at no charge. It took about two weeks to get here, but for how cheap this was, I still think that's good customer service. I may have put too much weight on that side since my CAT boots weigh a ton.
