After a year of job hunting, Natalie Treston is beyond thrilled to gain employment at Whitmore Hills, a psychiatric hospital. Doctors Sullivan and Harrell welcome her, as do the nurses and the security guards. The friendship, generous salary, and provision of an apartment seal the deal, even though Natalie is a bit perplexed by two of the rules: no internet connection at the apartments, and limiting trips away from the facility to once a month.
The mysterious suicide of one of the patients on Natalie’s first day of work unnerves her slightly. Then, too, there is patient Tony Conroy whose diagnosis as delusional seems to stem from his talk about visiting parallel universes. Natalie knows that the paramount rule in nursing is never become involved with the patients. Yet, looking into the green depths of Tony’s eyes, Natalie finds it difficult to separate her profession from the craving of her heart.
When Natalie realizes the danger to which unethical doctors Sullivan and Harrell are exposing the patients, she knows she must act to save them. Only P.S. Winn’s imagination is capable of writing such a brilliant and innovative solution to the perplexing question of: What is wrong at Whitmore Hills?
