Great for presenting, reviewing and researching for Second Graders. Also the food webs allow for enrichment beyond the TEK.

This book works well with the picture book "The Magic School Bus Gets Eaten" or "MSB Food Chain Frenzy". Best thing of all is the illustrations in this book -- they really convey the information. My kids really "get" it from the visuals.

A neat book explaining the sometimes hard to explain to little children...the food chain. I'm very happy to read this to my class when we learn about the animal kingdom and the food chain.

I used it to make an interactive bulletin board for my classroom. It is simple but it gets the point across. I use it with my 8th and 9th grade students, and they don't mind that it's a picture book.

After upsetting my five year old by allowing him to watch the blue planet (the one where the killer whale eats a baby whale) I thought I had better get something to help them understand the natural order of things. My kids 4 and 5 love this book and asked for it to be read to them every night when they got and still do regularly. It has given them a good understanding of different kinds of food chains.

A good book for children above 6 years

Very good and informative. Meant for slightly older children, still my 3.7-year old enjoyed seeing pictures. He doesn't get the concept yet but he likes the book. I too find the book interesting. Recommended.

Good science resource
Reviewed in Canada on February 27, 2013Verified Purchase
I bought this for a 4 year old but I'd recommend it for kids ages 5 and up. It explains food chains in a simple way and gives multiple examples (humans, ocean, etc). Not the very best kids science book I have seen, but it is an alright resource used in conjunction with other general science books.
