I loved this novel! The way Michelle goes from point A to B to C without much flashback, which I'm starting to think drags a story down. I enjoyed the way she built the plot, placed all the pieces of evidence in front of you and had you wondering until the very end who killed Allan Crandall. Was it his wife, Ashley? The man he owes money to? Or someone else? This was a page-turning, bite-size read that sucked me in from the start.
Characters were well developed. Although, at the beginning, I disliked Ashley for seemingly wanting to change Allan’s ways. For trying to be his super-saved savior. I thought initially if this keeps up, I'm not going to be able to finish the book. But Michelle quickly brings out Ashley’s true nature. Yes, she wants Allan to be saved, just as she was recently. But she is still flawed and in need of rescuing herself. Also, I wondered why Ashley would marry a man so different from her. But they weren't always different. A loss brought her closer to God and she wanted to share that beauty with her husband. Would he ever accept it?
You will enjoy this book if you like quick, exciting and fast-paced reads.
Sometimes a person can pray and ask for something but when it doesn't happen they want we feel it should. We lose faith, patience, joy, happiness.
Even though a tradedy of the characters husband being killed and you are suspect and you find out things were going on that you feel betrayed by him and other's. It is hard to see that your prayer was answered.
This book was a page turner and I look forward to reading more of the same storylines in future books.
Allan and Ashley has some issues in their marriage and Ashley suggests for him to attend a men's retreat. Ashley didn't realize at the end of the retreat her husband would have been murdered? All Ashley wants to know is "Who Killed Her Husband?"
I recommend this mystery story to anyone who would likes to read a fast pace, well written story with great character development.
I look forward to reading more books by Michelle Stimpson!
At some point Ashley came to the end of her and the beginning of God.
Celeste was a real friend she did not bring confusion into Allen and Ashley’s marriage, she prayed for them and loved Ashley like a godly sister should and supported her with God’s truth.
Ashley did the right thing in not telling her in-laws about Allen relationship with another woman. This would have caused bad blood and confusion that may never have healed. God worked it all out to his glory without anyone stepping in.
