At a local clinic I have used a much more expensive unit which has a more side to side see-saw motion. This one doesn't have that motion. It's more of a shaking all over. A great price on a great little machine.
I dprny about a month looking and decided on this one. Got it today. I found that the strength of the vibration is actually higher than the power plate if you put it in strong mode. The unit is fairly light weight and easy to move since you can pick it up by the top plate. Most importantly this is the better type of vibration. The oscillating machines just seem to shake your hips not really vibrate your muscles. Great if you are perfecting your twerking skills but doesnt really get in to your muscles like this one does. The instruction manual isn't very good but you can figure all of the buttons out and how to use it after a few minutes. It does make a clunking sound when it shuts down but I think that is OK. At this price if I get more than 6 moths out of it it was worth the money.
-powerful enough for me even on the lower strength setting
-Try this: lie horizontally on bed with head on pillow and wbv platform at edge and height of bed ....lie on one side with top leg resting on machine with side of foot or calf area and other leg resting uinderneath . Turn machine on low setting and let vibration gently shake you all over at it travels thru bones...I often fall asleep in this position and wake up feeling good.
-seems well built and sturdy
lineal wbv can cause vision blurring, and did to me. Pivotal is safer..read article.
no memory to hold change in settings so must change from default settings to what you want every time you use it which means a few more clicks on remote.
loud startup click noise.......and whiny sound especialy on higher speeds
my instructions for removing battery from remote:
slip screwdriver or knife into left edge of tray and push toward center while at the same time pull out tray with fingernail slot
I read one study done with post polio patients that indicated it helped with walking speed and distance, and didn't cause any harm. However, when I tried it out for about a minute, it felt wonderful, left my body tingling and feeling great. It also left my hip sore, like the last time I did (a really dumb thing) a hard workout on a stepper exerciser.
The pain in my hip, from the vibration platform, was gone in a few days (unlike what happened after I did a 20 minute workout on the stepper). I had slowly increased the speed of the vibration platform up to about 80 percent. Perhaps if I used it on a lower speed it would be fine, but I decided not to take the risk.
Polio doesn't damage muscles, it damages and destroys motor nerves. Based on what I have read, the vibration platform stimulates motor nerves, so I am concerned that doing too much on the vibration platform would stress the nerves too much.
The study done with a few post polio patients at the Houston hospital sounds promising, but if you try I, I recommend you proceed with caution.
