An important work

David Bohm was an important researcher and wrote a great deal about his work and ideas. For me, at least, his written work is difficult to follow, in part due to my lack of skill, but also to his complex writing. His writing is dense, hard to follow and, tortuous. But his ideas are so important that an attempt to study them is worth the time. Many of his ideas were and still are considered borderline metaphysical. He worked in that borderland between what is known and what could be known about the quantum world, parapsychology, the human mind and weird physics. But he made important advances in real, peer- reviewed physics. He was a giant.

Love. Love. Love.

I absolutely love this book. I wish I could meet the late Mr. Bohm. You will not enjoy it if you're not interested in philosophy, physics and experimenting with challenging your perspective on reality, even if it goes against the grain of established academia. He was an esteemed physicist so he has the information and education to back up some of his seemingly radical, albeit mind-blowing ideas.

A book for the ages, a new classic.

I am so grateful to have discovered this book. It is for those who have serious questions about the philosophy of science. Bohm was a great scientist (died 1990s), known as a brilliant lecturer, researcher, and writer on Relativity Theory and Quantum Physics, a colleague of Oppenheimer and of Einstein, who nevertheless raised fundamental and important (even urgent) questions about the atomistic approach of contemporary science in its attempt to understand reality. His thoughts are startling, stimulating, and vital. He proposes a whole new way of thinking. You do not need to be a scientist to read it, but you have to be willing to think for yourself.

Energy is Blind

I appreciate the theory on relationship. I feel this book is pretty easy to understand, given its context. I enjoy having it handy because relationship is always in motion and there are so many paradoxes regarding an observer. It Is worth trying to win the battle over the observer. I feel as though the observer has taken the place of the authority in our daily living. From my experience, I think we can try and rely on the waves (energy) to conduct or help with communication. But energy is blind.

For me, David Bohm has demonstrated his vision of the infinite universe with tremendous clarity and simplicity. A wonderful example of the union between the "unseen" and the "seen", and the continually transforming consciousness. I am also struck by how amazingly his world view of the explicate order, implicate order, and dynamic wholeness parallels the ancient Buddhist teachings regarding the three realities, that is, the imagined reality, the relative reality, and the perfected reality.
Those interested and fascinated by Buddhism and modern science are likely to enjoy this book as much as I do.

My physics is decades old; but I was able to follow this attempt to lay a common base for physics and philosophy without too much effort. It didn't seem at all out-of-date, either; rather on the cutting edge even now of such things as string theory and multiple worlds physics. Well worth the read.

fine new thinking

This book makes a good case for a dynamic view of existence. It might be considerred continuous creation. By the time I had seen this book first, years ago my intuitive sense had developed to receive these ideas well. I still had to take some time to turn my mind around for considerring the arguments on their own terms. I previously had learned principles of electronics and some technology. In my learning thus it seemed to follow that this is essentially correct.
