Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Stevia

Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Stevia is an all-natural, calorie-free sweetener that offers an alternative to highly processed, artificial sweeteners, which are derived from chemical processes. For those managing calories and blood sugar levels, Organic Stevia is perfect for sweetening hot and cold beverages, can be used as a sugar-substitute in many recipes, and is great at the breakfast table for sprinkling over cereals, waffles, pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt and more.

What is Organic Stevia?

Organic Stevia comes from an organic stevia plant leaf sustainably grown without the use of harmful pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Unlike conventional Stevia, Wholesome Sweeteners' Organic Stevia is holistically extracted from the plant through an enzymatic process giving it a smooth, mellow sweetness. This patented, full-spectrum organic extraction process eliminates the bitterness from stevia found in other brands. It also retains the micro-nutrient properties often removed in conventional processing. To maintain this smooth, mellow taste, Wholesome Sweeteners blends organic stevia with organic blue agave inulin, a natural prebiotic that can aid in digestion.

Organic Stevia is:

  • Calorie Free and Low Glycemic
  • Gluten-Free
  • Vegan
  • Non-GMO Verified
  • Kosher

How Do I Use Organic Stevia?

Since Stevia is so sweet, a little goes a long way. One packet of Organic Stevia sweetens like 2 teaspoons of sugar.

Non-GMO verified: The ingredients used in Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Stevia come from plants that have never been genetically modified. Genetically modified foods are banned in many European countries for lack of scientific study, and their serious potential to alter natural ecosystems and damage the environment.

PROS:
Added sweetness without the added carbs
No effects on insulin levels
Safe for diabetics
Handy 1 g packages
0 calories
Organic

CONS:
Sweet, but with a different overall taste than sugar
Bitter aftertaste is not completely eliminated
The bitter aftertaste is accentuated by the amount of product used--the more you add, the more you get the aftertaste
Fine grained, non-sugar like powder
Expensive

OTHER NOTES:
Packaged for sweetening beverages, not for baking (not bulked up enough to be used on its own)
A single package is supposed to be equal to '2 tsp of sugar,' but this really depends on your own individual taste

Trying to decrease the amount of empty carbs in my diet, I purchased Wholesome Organic Stevia from another vendor. I have never really been a fan of stevia before, but I have used Wholesome Sweeteners' products before and after reading the written-on-the-box statement that they had developed the 'Best Tasting Stevia in the World,' I decided to give stevia one more try. I can't say that this product blew me away or has made me love stevia, but as stevia products go this one ain't bad. It compares fairly with other stevia brands that I have used in the past. I found that it made a reasonable sweetener for coffee and tea, so long as I was careful not to use too much. (Use too much and that well-known, bitter aftertaste really shoots through.)

Stevia is an all natural sweetener that is promoted as a substitute for table sugar (sucrose). There are any number of brands and different forms in which stevia is sold. Popular formulations of stevia include highly concentrated liquid extracts and powdered forms, such as the stevia sold here.

Once my doctor told me to try Stevia instead of the Splenda, I was very cautious and skeptical. First of all, it tastes a little different right out of the package, but mixed in with my tea I couldn't taste any of the bitterness the other reviewer is referring to. It gives my tea a nice sweet, but not too sweet, flavor with one packet. And, the ingredients couldn't be more clear: NO MALTODEXTRIN in sight! I highly recommend this one.

I use this over the organic stevia because it has no bitter after taste. I use it to sweeten my protein shake, coffee, and the Paleo candy that I make. If you want he recipe: 1/4 cup raw cocoa, 3 pkt stevia, 3T coconut oil, 1/3 c.coconut, 1/4 seeds and nuts (sunflower, almond meal, hazelnut meal, round sesame seeds, chopped black raisins;cool and eat.

I am gluten sensitive and dairy intolerant and I bought this product because it says that is a GF and Dairy free product. After a few days of being really sick and without knowing what was causing it (because I have a strict GF and dairy free diet so I was clueless) I discovered that in the package of this stevia says that it is produced in a facility that also processes tree nut, milk, egg, shellfish, fish, wheat and soy ingredients.... So it's cross contaminated! And for the worse I cannot return it because of the policies of the product. So please, for those who have food sensibilities, be careful!!!!!!

I have been extremely ill the last couple of days due to this product. I have been using stevia for a long time and used Stevia in the Raw which I loved. However, this brand is organic and Non-GMO verified which is very important to me so I switched. The bad thing about it?? This has inulin added to it which is basically fiber. I was only using two packets in a single day and I have been experiencing the WORST stomach issues. Beware.

I have been using stevia for a long time, I use the powder stevia for my milkshakes, and the liquid stevia in my teas. This is the first time That I try this brand, I would say it tastes less sweet than the other brand I use, but that was not the main issue, what made me give it a low rating was the state of the packets, they were mostly torn, and the stevia inside was sticking together like a crust, which means that the quality of the product is not properly monitored.

Added a packet to coffee twice. Each time it was like I'd taken a laxative! I think it's the inulin. Have to find another zero calorie sweetener.

I bought this for my Mother who is a diabetic and for the first years of her diagnoses has had trouble finding beverages that she can drink besides diet sodas. She had to find things with fake sugars that aren't necessarily good to consume such as Splenda. So I began a hunt for more healthy alternatives. After finding and surprising my Mom by having this arrive at her door, she had called me back ecstatically within a few days, even before I had managed to call her to even make sure she had received it in the first place. She now uses this almost everyday, specifically in some kind of tea called Passion Fruit Tea. When I last visited her over this summer she made me some and it tasted delicious. I was even telling myself at the time I was going to use this stuff for myself when I got back. Although I havn't followed through with those plans for myself, I've continued to supply my Mom with this organic stevia, and have purchased the pack of 3 a couple times for her and will continue to do so.

Side note is it comes in little packets as pictured, not in a large bag or something you can scoop it from.
