INTRODUCTION

There’s a reason that the ketogenic diet has become so wildly popular. It truly works. And, weight loss is just the beginning. Studies have shown that it stabilizes mood, raises energy levels, controls blood sugar, lowers blood pressure, improves cholesterol, and more.

I have personally seen the benefits in my own life. I spent years feeding bad habits in my teens and early twenties. This time in my life was marked with packaged foods, loads of sugar, low energy, anxiety, and even depression. Like many people, I started a low carb diet to lose weight.

Surprisingly, while the weight loss was nice, the biggest impact was the benefit to my overall health.

The low carb, keto lifestyle has completely changed my mental and physical well-being. I feel more motivated and energetic than I ever have in my life. My mood is stable. My anxiety and depression are gone. Two kids later, I’m at a healthy weight with low blood pressure and cholesterol, despite a strong family history of the contrary.

Unfortunately, many people are intimidated by keto. They don’t have a lot of time to cook, they have a whole family to feed, or they worry that they’ll miss their favorite meals.

I created my site, WholesomeYum.com, to show people that low carb and keto eating doesn’t have to be difficult, complicated, or boring. It all started as a way to record my recipe experiments. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that it would help millions of people.

I am loving this book! I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in September 2019 and have been following her site since then, and have made so many recipes. What I love is that she makes it easy and simple to follow. Fast track to October 18th, I am now off of meds using alot of her recipes.

Onto the book, it is excellent with pictures and references. Also I love the variations that she inputs, exp, making dishes with coconut flour vs almond flour, swap outs and explanations of keto that are quick and not overly drawn out. If you are looking for an excellent keto recipe start, I highly recommend starting here! In addition also visit her blog wholesomeyum.

Attached are a few pics to show the difference can make by eating, and also pics of her blueberry scones that I made (insane delicous!), low carb almond bread (delicious!) Zuchini noodles, the list goes on and on and on.

The Wholesome yum Easy Keto Cookbook was worth the pre-order wait. It is well organized with excellent introductory information about the keto way of eating and tips for stocking a pantry. Ingredients and recipe directions are straight forward including nutrition values and meal photo examples. I now have several digital and one other hardcopy keto cookbooks but this is the easiest to use.

This review is for the Wholesome Yum keto cookbook. First I’d like to say this isn’t my first Keto cookbook. I’ve been trying and failing at keto for almost a year now. I wouldn't be writing this review had I not already been using the Wholesome Yum website and menu plan.
Keto is a learned behavior and it isn’t cheap! I got really discouraged because of the time and money that I’ve invested to try to become healthy. I was born with the caretaker spirit. I’ve taken care of everyone else my entire life. Now, I’m mid 40 and my cup is empty. Who takes care of the caretaker? I want to succeed at this keto lifestyle and Mya sets you up for success. I feel for the first time I can actually do something for myself sustainably. I’m doing keto but I’m making one dinner for the family without any guilt. It’s their choice to eat or not. The thing is, the recipes are for-real good! My husband walks 12 miles a day for work and since the recipes are family sized portions he can have as much as he wants, usually only 2 servings though because he’s full AND satisfied. This is sustainable because the recipes are simple to follow, no guessing, weight of ingredients is included as to increase consistency, family size portions, common easy to find ingredients, make ahead and freeze. I honestly feel like the Wholesome Yum platform is a game changer for me. Finally!

I was hesitant about this recipe book for three reasons: new to the keto diet so wasn't sure I would enjoy it, from the UK so was worried converting measurements and ingredients would be problematic and also that the recipes may not be to my taste. This is the best recipe book I have ever had. This woman really knows her stuff. Every recipe has been easy to make and absolutely delicious. I love lots of the recipes it is like it was designed for me. Great range of recipes and I hand on heart have never made as many recipes from one book as I have from this one in just three weeks. Love it. Thank you so much! The only thing to say is the fat head dough with coconut flour hasn't quite worked for me and tried the pizza and bagels.
