"Who's The Redhead On The Roof....?": My life with The Beatles Kindle Edition
In 1968 I was invited to be in a unique and privileged position in the world of popular music. I was to look after the equipment of the biggest band in the world, The Beatles.
I know it was unique and a privilege because only one other person had done the job before me, his name was Mal Evans and he was the Beatles’ Roadie.
Over the past 40 odd years since the Beatles split up there have been countless books published on the band. I can’t add anything new to their story, I can only tell mine. My job with the Beatles has been described as various different things in books and on the internet, some right, some wrong. I am writing this book to clarify my role working with the boys. How you view me after you have read my account I leave to you.

A Terrific and Unpretentious Narrative
Kevin Harrington, at a young age, was drawn into The Beatles' orbit at the height of their career. In the various lowly but much-needed roles he fulfilled for them, he became a trusted insider, gaining entry into a world that we can only imagine - this was his normal. In addition to regularly rubbing elbows with the biggest names in British rock at the time, he was their go-to aid for mundane tasks (making tea, for example); a true fly-on-the-wall during their last years at Apple. While the famous rooftop performance marked an amazing career highlight for most of us, to him it was another day at work (being charged with lugging all that heavy gear to the roof). But of his experiences (however menial at times), his recollections are priceless - who among us wouldn't have happily traded places with him? Kevin provides insights into the personas and a vivid, engaging telling of those glorious times. This isn't a study of The Beatles per se; it's a narrative of an all-too-brief period of being in their employ; a ringside seat to history being made. For an overlooked perspective from someone who was not a peer, but an employee, this book cannot be bettered.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and had a lot of good stories about the Beatles. I have always wondered who the redhead on the roof was and now I know! I wish it was available in a regular book form as well as an ebook.

An absolutely charming eye-witness report, candid, modest, with no self aggrandisement. So much so, that Kevin is not even aware of the fact that he was (at least for me) the visual focus of the long and rather dreary documentary of the "Concert on the roof." I kept watching for his red flaming torch of a head to bring some light into the lengthy proceedings. I hope Kevin will write a sequel to this book, about his experiences as a rodie with other groups of the 70s and 80s.

Read it in less than an hour - the price is a bit steep given the length - and found it interesting. Really it amounts to several interesting anecdotes. So, for completists and obsessed fans only. And since that includes me, four stars.

Finally another piece of the puzzle is revealed. Way too short but well worth the read. Can't wait for another book!

Red-bird’s-eye view, respectful and energetic- and you know there were many stories left untold.
Would love to know more about this fine young dude’s time on the road after this story concludes.

Good read!

Kevin is obviously the real deal and he had some genuine experiences with the Beatles, but his book would definitely have been improved by some judicious editing. Some passages are actually difficult to read because of the awkward diction and grammar. Many sentences could have been easily improved by anyone with a modicum of literary experience, and it would have been a much more pleasurable read. The stories deserve a better telling.

A fabulous glimpse behind The Beatle Curtain

I'm a major Beatles fan. I've read many and most books on the Fab Four and this little book is a gem. An insiders story. Brief but fascinating with total respect to 'The Boys' but also offers some revealing lovely details about The Beatles at their most fascinating time. I would recommend this to any fan as a must read

Short book. I read it in one night. Easy read, interesting and entertaining. Only negative, read it too quickly but ideal for Kindle.

Enjoyable and unpretentious

There is much unsaid in this account of being a roadie for the Beatles in their later days. I bought the book because I was intrigued by the almost off stage interventions of the auburn haired young man in the studios of Get Back - poring coffee, occasionally tapping a toe, and in the scene referenced in the title holding up lyrics for John Lennon. It’s an enjoyable read and I like the way the author looks back on his life as a shy and diffident young man. Tantalising though. I feel there is so much more to the story - both of the Beatles and of the modest author. He clearly took charge of his own destiny and both survived and thrived in a fractious, difficult environment.
