One of the best parts of the book is the included Leader Guide for small groups that want to go through this life-changing book. It helps the leader to facilitate the group instead of teaching it thus allowing the True teacher to teach for those that have ears to hear. I have personally shared this book with a few groups that are using it and have been so blessed by this book. I have even quoted from the book in a recent sermon. I hope many, many, many, many, and many more people will get this book and embrace the practical, grace-filled truths that saturate each and every page.
Ms Hendrix's conversational writing style makes Why Can't We Just Get Along? an easy read that is simple to absorb and internalize. Guiding the reader through these concepts based upon scripture and prayer is also very appealing and necessary. The format of the book is also set up with questions for study and self-reflection that would be great for an individual or a group. Overall, I highly recommend Why Can't We Just Get Along? for anyone seeking to grow in their Christian walk as a secure and considerate person loved by God, just as He calls us to be.
Note: This book was provided to me free of charge with no expectation of a positive review. The opinions stated above are my own.
I tried being, as Shelley writes~ "I used to try to be the kind of woman I thought God wanted me to be. I thought He wanted me to be a quiet, good-at-everything-domestic wife and mom. I tried very hard to be that woman and felt very inadequate around the women for whom this came easily. I believed for a long time that in order for me to be acceptable, I had to be perfect."
Because of Shelley Hendrix's book I am learning and seeing that God LOVES me as I am. He gave me my personality and He has accepted me into His family!!
I know I have so much more to glean from "Why Can't We Just Get Along" and look forward to learning even more.... YES even at my age!!
