About the Author

The author, Chris McMullen, is a physics and astronomy instructor atNorthwestern State University of Louisiana. He earned his Ph.D. inphysics at Oklahoma State University in phenomenological high-energyphysics (particle physics). His doctoral dissertation was on thecollider phenomenology of superstring-inspired large extra dimensions, a field in which he has coauthored several papers. He also holds aMaster's degree in physics from California State University, Northridge. He has published several nonfiction books, including math workbooks and puzzle books. "Why Do We Have to Go to School?" draws on Dr. McMullen's experience in the roles of teacher, father, and student.
