Lots of insight about how dogs think. Great chapter on rank reversal.

This book is invaluable in helping solve issues using behaviorist training. No need to read cover to cover but look up your issue in the index and bingo there is a full explanation on why theres a problem (usually with our behaviour/expectations) and how to correct it, explaing the psychology of the dog and its expectations of us as pack leaders and the history of dog behavior mostly stemming from its wild ancestory.
John Fischer explains clearly and simply the whys and how to deal with it and other parts that have bearing on the why. It's like having your own personal dog behaviorist with you all the time and not just on a TV series or DVD.
Cant really explain it but anything that's seems a problem he has a clearly explained answer for.
I recently got a rescue dog and found it had a multitude of problems which I found hard to correct but once I read this book I understood my problems from a another angle . After reading this book I now have a much calmer dog who is I'm sure with a lot of time and effort and understanding of the canine animal going to be a very different dog to the one I brought home .
