Editorial Reviews

"[A] lovely exploration.... Crosses cultural boundaries. This book's language and rhyme are fabulously rich and evocative of the artistry of Shel Silverstein.... [R]elate with Juan's sleepless night...his fears regarding his abuelo's (grandfather's) driving... [feel] Juan's frustration as he cries an exhausted, "Basta!" (Enough!).... explore the rich language of these talented authors.... [The] sleepy stream of consciousness...conveys nicely how...similar children's...lives can be to those whose home cultures may seem totally different from their own." - Mark Condon, Unite for Literacy

"Original...An intriguing bedtime mystery...that increases vocabulary and comprehension while entertaining.... Why Juan Can't Sleep answers the title question with...delightfully (slightly) scary undertone...fun picture searches...[and] multicultural appeal...Very reader-friendly." - Midwest Book Review

"...Juan's night drags on, the book does not. I think it is the perfect length to read to a child. The story grabs your attention.... The illustrator, Sanz, does a great job of bringing each page and each thought to life.... a good read and a fun time!...for adults as well. - Jacqueline Ruiz for Readers Favorite

"What an entertaining way to get [a child] to sleep!...The artwork is spectacular and every page is eye-catching!... Definitely a keeper!! Every little [child] should have this wonderful mystery!" - Miles Cassells (age 2.5) and Mom for Reader Views Kids
