5.0 out of 5 starsWant to get married? This book is the Bible.
ByAmazon Addict :)on May 30, 2018
What I would give to go back five years in my life and give a younger version of myself this book! I am now engaged, to the man of my dreams and in large part it’s based on the advice in this book. I read this book less than two years ago. I highlighted so many sections and I vowed to make better decisions because being married is important to my happiness and a big part of my dreams. I am so incredibly thankful to this author for writing this book that has literally changed my life. I remember before I read this book I was asking how I could be in my 30s, incredibly professionally successful, attractive, healthy and vibrant and yet not be able to attract a marriage worthy man into my life. Despite several long term loving relationships, I could not figure out what I was doing wrong and was tempted to give up hope. This book showed me the light. Seriously, if you want to get married, read this book. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I also recommend “Getting to I Do” by Dr. Pat Allen. She is my hero.

5.0 out of 5 starsI recommend to everyone

I wish I had this book in my twenties...I would have not wasted so much time on the men that were in my life at the time. The content in the book is relies on sociological data on why men marry some women on not others. It gives women a timeline for dating in their twenties, thirties, and beyond - what should happen when in the relationship and so forth, when to cut someone loose, etc...it's very informative. I recommend it to every and all.

5.0 out of 5 starsHusband hunting
ByElizabeth Allemongon September 4, 2017

A hilarious and down to earth guide how to plan to find the right man and make him to marry you. Luckily for me, I found my right man a long time ago, but I would highly recommend this book to young women. Make a business plan of what you need in a husband, go hunting, and nail the man! This is not a book for weak and indecisive women. Forget Cinderella, you need to become an an amazon.

Excellent book. Covers all aspects from the practical to the spiritual of becoming a marriageable woman. One of my friend's daughter just broke up with her semi-long-term boyfriend. She just said, "He wasn't the one." I purchased a paperback version of the book for her to send to her daughter. I'll give it to her tomorrow.

5.0 out of 5 starsBased on Research, and Better than Most!
ByCelesteon April 7, 2015

This book was really cool! It's nice to see dating and relationship advice based on research instead of personal opinions! While most of the advice seems like common sense to me, there were some very interesting things that he brings to the readers attention, things I never knew! This book is definitely worth a read :) Even if you read this for a lark, instead of for genuine advice I think you'll enjoy reading it :)

5.0 out of 5 starsFascinating research made practical
ByA Reader from Chicagoon February 14, 2004
Format: HardcoverVerified Purchase
I read some of Molloy's other books in the distant past, and was impressed, so I checked this out. If the topic of how men proceed or don't proceed toward the altar interests you, this book will open your eyes up. A lot of research went into the book, and it was guided a lot by women who were among Molloy's researchers who themselves wanted to get married.
Some guys, according to Molloy, become interested in marriage when they no longer fit comfortably into the singles scene. Because they have matured beyond the girls who are still in the singles scene, or the girls in the singles scene start to look at those guys as outsiders who no longer belong in the singles scene.
In this book he destroys the notion that women over 40 have a better chance of being killed by a terrorist than married, when he relates that he thought the statement was absurd, and looked at the statistics, and saw that nine percent of women who got married in 1980 were forty or older.
Molloy sees men being ready for marriage or not being ready for marriage. When a guy is fresh out of college, he may well want to enjoy his freedom for a couple of years. So he will not be ready to settle down for a while. A woman who wants to get married will concentrate on guys who are ready to get married.
Most men proposed only after pressure was applied by the prospective bride, and Molloy argues that if that pressure is not applied that many of the women would not have gotten married. It seems that there is a natural readiness period, and if the proposal doesn't take place in that period, then it won't happen. And it is up to the woman to push it along in many cases, if it is to happen. Molloy suggests that some pressuring is good, and other pressuring is bad. E.g., "I will find someone else if you don't marry me," seems to make the man defensive and uncooperative.
I am a straight unmarried guy, and read this because I find the topic interesting. But there is a lot of material that would be useful for women who want to land a husband. There is nothing that focuses specifically on getting a husband of your dreams, per se, but there is material to help you assess whether a current "Mr. Right" is a waste of time (and time destroys mate-finding opportunities!). Or how to proceed with a Mr. Right to optimize your chances of a marriage him.
A great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars65 and encouraged! Thank you Mr. Molloy.
ByP. E. Hooveron September 28, 2013
Format: Mass Market PaperbackVerified Purchase
I am an older woman, who is physically limited and for the last 15 years have been a social recluse due to taking care of my elderly dad. I read one review from a 40 year old woman, who provided a negative comment to the extent that Mr. Molloy conveys the thought over 40 is too old. He does NOT say that, this reader, read only what she wanted to believge. I read it and was encouraged by the research done on those who are older and still believe no one is too old to marry. Personally, I was very encouraged by the comment that churchgoers tend to have a higher rate of marrying than non-churchgoers over 40. (Now watch the churches around the Country fill with seeking singles!) I am having the faith to believe with God all things are possible - even marriage at 60+, and with Mr. Molloy's excellent research and fine writing, I'm on my way to seeking my future husband to share my sunset years.

5.0 out of 5 starsSolid Advice..... Read It and Found My Husbanded
ByCaition July 7, 2008
Format: Mass Market PaperbackVerified Purchase
I was in a relationship that lasted four years and went absolutely nowhere and I could not figure out why. After reading this book, I realized that there were red flags from day one and I did not know enough to clue in on them. I decided to put this book to the test. First, I decided that my life would not be complete if I was not married so I dated with the idea that I was looking for a prospective husband. If, after a few dates, it was evident that the relationship would not lead to marriage, I moved on (I was 27 and didn't want to waste time in relationships that were not going to give me what I wanted). Eventually after a few months, I met my current boyfriend and the material in the book gave me insight into our relationship. The chapter regarding "age of commitment" was/is especially helpful to understand when a man of his educational and professional background would be ready to commit. Right now I am planting the seed regarding marriage. I actually came right out and told him that I want to marry him! It's still too early to tell if this tactic will work but he was very receptive to what I was saying. So I guess we'll have to see...

The bottom line is that I felt this book was intuitive and really helped me. I think it will be relavant to most single women, even those over 35, considering that so many couples are getting married at an older age. I just bought myself a second copy on Amazon. I loaned out the first copy and never got it back. It is definitely the type of thing I'd want to refer back.

UPDATE 5/30/12
I happened to find this book the other day while my husband and I were packing in order to move into our first house. We've been married for 7 months now and although it took longer than expected, I did give him an ultimatum that he propose or it's over. He admits that it infuriated him but it made him really start to think about marriage. It really was the push he needed but even I admit that piece of advice was a gamble. Thinking back, this book has some real solid advice but it is definitely more useful in your mid to late 20's

Key take-always were if you want to get married, don’t waste time with men who aren’t committed. Don’t stay more than 3-6 months with someone who hasn’t established monogamy. Be confident, stay in shape, and take very good care of yourself. Love yourself more than any guy.

5.0 out of 5 starsInteresting and Informative Read
ByAnonon September 24, 2017

I stumbled across an excerpt of this book in a news article I was reading. Being within the age range when people get married, I was curious what made some men tie the knot and others not. The book was an entertaining read and further explained courting and dating practices of today. Highly recommended for women interested in this topic.
