Review
“Why ObamaCare Is Wrong for America is carefully researched, well written, and a mustread for anyone concerned about the future of health care in our nation. It proves without a doubt that this law will bankrupt our nation and hurt economic growth.” — Rep. John A. Boehner, Member of Congress
This timely and lucid book is the thinking person’s answer to two questions: Why is this fight crucial to Americans’ health and America’s civic health? And how can it be won? — Syndicated Columnist George F. Will
A vital contribution to the ongoing national debate over ObamaCare. What sets this work apart is that it not only exposes the flaws of the new law, but also points the way toward true free enterprise-oriented reforms. — Arthur Brooks, President, American Enterprise Institute
ObamaCare can be -- indeed must be -- ‘repealed and replaced.’ This invaluable book provides the arguments to win the public debate and replace ObamaCare with a genuine reform that truly delivers world-class health care at a cost we can afford. — Ed Whelan, President, Ethics and Public Policy Center:
This succinct and lucid summary of the horrors of ObamaCare and what we the people can do about them will be an essential handbook in saving us from medical socialism and bringing true free markets to health care -- which, in turn, will generate more health care at less cost! — Steve Forbes, Forbes Magazine
At a time when core American principles are threatened on every level, this book will arm you with the knowledge, facts, and insight on what YOU can do to help repeal this bill. — Edwin Feulner, president, The Heritage Foundation
From the Back Cover
Most people initially had high hopes for health reform. There clearly are problems that must be fixed. The president had promised that if reform passed, everyone would be able to get health insurance, costs would go down, and we would be able to keep both our doctors and our coverage. And we were told that reform would even cut the deficit and make Medicare stronger.
But the law that actually passed became a Rube Goldberg contraption that can’t possibly work and that fails to meet its promises—and it will make many problems worse. Officials say it will leave at least 23 million people uninsured, it is already making health insurance more expensive, and it threatens major changes to the coverage that tens of millions of Americans have today. Seniors are frightened that its cuts to future Medicare spending will jeopardize their care, and taxpayers see a flood of red ink far into the future.
ObamaCare is leaving a comet tail of broken promises as it steamrolls its way through our economy and into our lives. What happened? How could there possibly be such a big gap between promise and reality?
In Why ObamaCare is Wrong for America, the authors—who work for four different conservative think tanks and have led the fight to educate the American people about the impact of ObamaCare—explain exactly what the law stipulates and how the law will affect each of us: as patients, as employees, as taxpayers, and as citizens. They also lay out a plan for reforming the law so we can get health care right. Finally, the authors share concrete steps each of us can take to put the breaks on ObamaCare.

As Nancy Pelosi famously said on March 9, 2010, "We have to pass the (healthcare) bill so that you can find out what is in it." Now that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been passed into law, the book "Why Obamacare is Wrong for America" clearly and succinctly tells us what is in this pernicious law. This well-researched book, co-authored by four very knowledgeable people, explains what is in the new health care law, how it negatively impacts ALL Americans and what we can do to get it repealed. This will then pave the way to true health care reform, which is outlined in this book and makes lots of sense.
One reason "Why Obamacare is Wrong for America" is so helpful is that it gives a simple overview of the health care law and then explains how it impacts families and young adults, seniors, vulnerable Americans, you and your doctor, you and your employer and taxpayers. For example, the book points out how Obamacare uses "Medicare as a piggybank to pay for it." This will result in cuts to Medicare that will limit seniors' access to care.
This book also clarifies how Obamacare takes many decisions about your health care out of the hands of you and your doctor and puts them into the hands of government regulators. I know from personal experience that "one size fits all" does NOT work when it comes to individual health problems. We simply are not robots to be tinkered with, but human beings who want to be healthy.
As we have heard in the news, Obamacare is being challenged on Constitutional grounds regarding the individual mandate. "Why Obamacare is Wrong for America" does an excellent job of explaining this. In addition, the book points out that waivers under the new law are granted on an arbitrary basis, meaning people are not all equal in the eyes of the law as they are required to be under our Constitution.
The bottom line for me is that if I cannot make decisions about my own body, I am not free. How could this happen in America? I urge everyone to read Why Obamacare is Wrong for America and pay close attention to the last chapter, "What You Can Do to Put the Brakes on Obamacare."
America is always at its best when sticking to principles of individual freedom and free enterprise. The way forward with health care is true free enterprise, where individuals are incentivised to care about and take charge of their own health. True free markets in health care will deliver better care at lower costs in a way that empowers individuals, not an army of new East German border guards to police every aspect of your life. Obamacare as it stands greatly expands the powers of the IRS to terrorize Americans, while not providing incentives for even one additional doctor to care for Americans' health. Why Obamacare is Wrong for America is essential reading, put it at the top of your list!
However, the book did not end there. The last chapter provides what I think is the best collection of ideas and action steps that I've ever read on what I can do to stop ObamaCare. I had thought it was a lost cause after the legislation passed last year but I am excited to know that not only can ObamaCare be stopped but I can do something about it!
If you've ever been curious about what ObamaCare is and its impact on your life, then you have to read this book. And if you want to know how it can be repealed and what you can do about it - this is a must read!
