“Why is it that my kite won’t fly” is a compilation of ideas, concepts, strategies and best practices aiming at improving performance in project execution, based on solid theoretical foundation but, just as important (if not even more), also inspired by real-life, hands-on experience.
The author uses a common analogy to describe the intricate interaction and impact different factors have on attaining desired outcomes; additionally, he employs relevant and well documented examples from all fields (sports, medicine, etc.) to make the understanding of rather complex matter very simple and pleasant.
The result is a book that is easy to read and enjoyable.
It contains a collection of observations and recommendations for management of Resources, Risk, Decisions, Change, Communication, Stakeholders, Quality, Cost & Schedule and the author goes a step further, by integrating them - to address the most probable challenges that may arise and to provide potential solutions.
With that in mind, this book is not a check-sheet to execute capital projects. It’s rather the author’s endeavor to teach people about successful project execution, regardless of size, type, field or area.
“Life is full of projects” and this book will enhance people’s perspective, positioning the readers better to succeed, in their particular endeavors and enterprises, as it’s not just for project managers.
I offered this book to my sons, enrolled in university, Computer Science undergraduate degree programs; after they read it, they both found it to be applicable to them, inspiring and enriching.
To conclude, in my opinion “Why is it that my kite won’t fly” – The Power of Strategic Project Management could become a gift of excellent value to anyone interested in their own improvement.
