I have no idea HOW.
Like many romance novels, it moves between the POV of the man and the woman. But here it doesn't alternate regularly and Sugar's POV is in first person, and Lyles in third. It's not even a really close third. It's jarring. And I suppose it's to make us identify closer with Sugar and make Lyle feel distant and cold? But the end result is more like two novels haphazardly jammed together.
For being an "erotic romance" the first sex scene come at approximately 78% of the way through the story. I had to do a bit of math because on the kindle 20% of what you get is not the novel but pointless padding. There's barely any buildup, there's precious little attraction between the couple and the only thing sizzling is the bacon cooked at one point. (Which was another major beef I had, an A-list Hollywood star prepping for a major role cannot just abandon his training for days on end and eat like a pig right before filming starts). Anyway, that first sex scene is in Lyles third person POV and is 215 words long. It's two paragraphs. There's one more, from Sugar's first person POV, but they're supposed to be so eager there's no foreplay. Apparently, Lyle is not a breast man, so why the author bothered to tell us about Sugar's at the start of the story I have no clue, since Lyle apparently doesn't notice they exist.
The novel is packed with forgettable characters that exist only to populate other books in this series, or if they are involved in the plot they're gone quickly.
There's no chemistry between the main characters, who both had tragic (tm) backstories which have no purpose but to drag out the plot a few pages more and that doesn't seem to matter when it's inconvenient to the author.
This book is so boring even the editor phoned it in, with errors such as the Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Disneyland (Really?? There are zero mentions of things like being pressed against someone during a ride or any other sexual tension. It's like they're eight-years-old. And seriously there's no way someone wouldn't recognize a Hollywood A-lister there) So the ride is printed first as the Guardian's of the Galaxy, and then correctly several paragraphs later. There are quite a few other typos and grammar errors I wouldn't expect in a book I paid money for.
Seriously, this book is a huge disappointment. Read something else.
Sugar Laine is a waitress who is having a hard time trying to save her family home. She is by herself now due to a tragic accident that took the lives of her mother and brother. The family house is all she has left of their memories and she has to find a way to get the money to save the house.
Sugar's best friend has a way for her to make some quick money which is how Sugar meets Lyle. She is desperate enough that she is willing to spend a night with Lyle. However things doesn't goes as initially plan but life has a way of throwing you the unexpected! The one night turns into a pretend engagement for Sugar and Lyle. It was suppose to be a business transaction between the 2 but as they each get to know each other better, they realize they have more in common than they would have initially thought! Can they each overcome their tormented past to give love a chance?
I love Julie's Stark World and Stark series. We finally get Lyle's story and it is another story that can't be missed!
Performance 4 out of 5 stars

Wicked Dirty is a lovely story about a broken man and a woman who refuses to get beat down by life.
Although I enjoyed the storyline, there are a few issues that keep me from giving a 5 ⭐️ rating.
First, I didn’t feel the chemistry between the characters. Second, I don’t think the title covers the story. Third, I’m unsatisfied by what happens to the ‘bad guys’ (because I don’t know what happens with them!)
Performance by Paula Hoffman is good, but not great. I prefer dual reading and I don’t think she pulled off the male parts in the book.

Sugar Laine is a struggling waitress who is working every hour she can to save her family home from foreclosure. Knowing about her financial situation, a friend talks Sugar into being a call-girl for a night for a fee of $10,000.00 She agrees. But who will she meet and will she meet the requirements...
This book, the second of a trio series is another wonderfully written by J. Kenner. It is certain that I will read this story again. Make sure you do too.
