While I liked the first book in this duet better (hotter, more interesting, given the hidden mystery of Jameson's past), this was all kinds of cliche, corny and overflowing with love. It's nothing bad, but, it is rather boring after awhile.

Nevertheless, I give it a four star rating, because it didn't wow me like Ryan and Jameson's beginning struggles as acquaintances, to roommates, then lovers. I still take issue at writers like Ms. Frank misusing "I" over "me," the correct pronoun when it ends up in the latter sentence clause. Anyway, nice read if one doesn't mind a story being predictable.

As sad as I am that this duet had to come to an end, it was done amazingly! Ella Frank does no wrong in my eyes though, I’ve read every single book of hers and not found one of them wanting. She knows what she’s doin, plain and simple! Ryan and Jamesons story is no different. A true love story for sure, with tons of ups and downs. It wasn’t easy but it was meant to be. And don’t let me forget about the heat factor! Damn, that’s never a let down either!! Must read for sure!

The final chapter for Jameson and Ryan were sweet and loving. Gone is the angst that we had in book one from Jameson. In its place is acceptance and happiness, for once in his life. In this book, it’s Jameson who gets to be the hero and save Ryan, he becomes almost coy and sheepish when faced with getting stuck.

I absolutely loved Ryan’s complete and utter devotion to Jameson, including being there for him when he is going his mental turmoil. Listening to Jameson rehash his last time seeing his best friend absolutely broke me. I was a blubbering crying mess 😭.

To see Jameson finally leave the past and begin to do things for himself was great. Heartbreaking his situation with sister Amy, but absolutely needed. I think this book helps to show a healthy way to begin to deal. The fact that Ryan’s boss wanted to make amends, when it was really needed, then sprung the home on Jameson, amazing!

Long story short, please please please read Ryan and JAMESON’s books, Wicked Heat (Book 1) and Wicked Flame (^^Book 2 ^^)

I started reading this authors books because one of the initial series of books was very well done. Not sure why women authors seem to be doing an exemplary job in romances with gay men. It is the unique story lines, interesting characters and well thought out dialogue that garnered my interest and led me to read subsequent offerings. I am looking forward to the day when the sexual orientation of the characters is irrelevant and that a good book is a good book and not pigeonholed as "gay" genre. Perhaps books like Ms. Frank's write will go far in breaking down barriers. It certainly has gone far in aiding my understanding. If enough mothers and grandmothers come to realize that love is love, future generations will not just tolerate, but actually not give a hoot, about who a person chooses to love

Wicked Flame picks up where Wicked Heat left off, and I've been itching to find out how Jameson and Ryan were going to move forward after the fiasco during the charity dinner. There's a smidgen of angst to be found in this conclusion to Superman and Lois's, erm, the Grump and his GQ's, umm, Jameson and Ryan's story. And by "angst", I don't mean "drama". Those two are completely different things. There are a lot of lighthearted moments to be found as well, and have I mentioned the swoon-worthy gestures Jameson and Ryan have going on? There's a lot of sweet to go with the steam, as is always the case when it comes to Ella Frank's romances. Also, the epilogue is, hands down, one of my all-time favorites when it come to the romance genre, and that's saying something since I happen to read a lot. Five stars for Wicked Flame, and I can't wait for more Chicago Heat.

It’s been a while since I read Wicked Heat Book 1 and I’d forgotten some of the background to Ryan and Jameson’s story. Ryan is such a darling and has a great family to love and support him.

Jameson, and his sister Amy have a terrible family history with drug addiction and drug dealing parents. They ended up on the cold streets of Chicago but with some help from a childhood friend Jon, Jameson made a better life for himself. Still he has other baggage too on his back, his sister Amy is still on the streets, plus the weight of loss for his boyhood best friend Simon, who was also a Firefighter with Jameson.

How could these two guys, Ryan and Jameson ever get together?

This is another Ella Frank, two book series, I found it different from some of her other books, maybe not so steamy. The drug addiction scenario may be a trigger to some so be warned.

I loved this second part of the Chicago Heat duet. Jameson and Ryan's opposites attract romance is so great, with Ryan's super sweet caring nature playing a significant role in breaking down the wall Jameson had built around his heart. The surly firefighter was still carrying with him some pretty heavy emotional baggage but, with the support of his 'GQ', he was able to lay some ghosts to rest and deal with past guilt.

Wicked Flame is packed with emotional moments, sweet romance and, of course, the heat. There's the great cast of side characters, too, the majority of who are already familiar to us from around the Chicagoverse. I really do like Jon, though. He's in Jameson's corner, no matter what, as well as being pretty wise and generous in his support of people in vulnerable positions generally...a very good surrogate father figure.

This duet is definitely on my re-read list and I'd definitely love to read more from HE and Jameson. 4.5*

Wicked Flame is the second and concluding part of the first Chicago Heat duet featuring Alexander Thorne's (the Prime Series) PA Ryan Carrigan and firefighter Jameson Clarke, and it picks up pretty much from where book one, Wicked Heat, left off with Jameson walking out of the charity event and then reluctantly accepting the help of Ryan when his sister Amy calls for help.

But the pair are able weather Jameson's reaction and Amy's reappearance and come out the other side stronger and as their relationship deepens Jameson is able to start really opening up about his past. As well as his best friend and former roommate Simon.

And with plenty to swoon over, little angst or drama and some humour. This was a really enjoyable read. That had me smiling throughout as the feelings these two created were finally and fully embraced.
