The Wicked Game Kindle Edition

3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

It’s a hide and seek game played with rifles.
Those who volunteered for the game didn’t know rifles would be issued.
They didn’t know they would have to hunt down and kill other players.
They thought it was just an innocent game of hide and seek played by adults.
But the rules were changed. Several times.
Now it’s either stay and play…or die to get out.

"Fast, incisive, and audaciously entertaining. Readers may have seen it before, but they'll likely enjoy it this time around." - Kirkus Review

After reading this book, the first question I asked myself was what would I do if I ever found myself in the same situation. Any book that can get me to ask myself that question is a great one in my mind. While the plot of "The Wicked Game" is fictional and I doubt it could ever happen in real life, it should get the reader thinking about their own moral code and whether or not they would ever break their own rules. That's a deep thought to ponder, but great fiction can really get the brain working if you allow it. RM Smith, wrote an exciting, fast-paced story told from the perspective of the main character. While there are many other characters, Number Seven is the most well-developed because it is his story being told. By the written descriptions, you can feel exactly what he's feeling and see what he's seeing. I've overlooked this book many times, but I'm glad I finally downloaded the Kindle. I should've done it much sooner. This is now one of my favorite novels by an an independent author. - Sheila Rae Myers, Author

I'm always on the lookout for books of this type of genre - the hunters versus the hunted - and was happy to have found this one. The author did a great job of setting the scene, the psy-ops of the game, and leaving the ending up to the imagination until the final few pages. If it had been better edited, I'd have given it five stars - but I'm picky like that, and the errors were few enough that they were easy enough to overlook, since I really wanted to see what was going to happen! One thing is for sure: you do not - repeat not - want to be taken out of the game.

There's a bit of language and violence, so it's a novel for adult readers. If you can handle that, give this author a try. He's a good storyteller and wow, what a story!

This book was exciting to read. The only reason I put it down was to run an errand, otherwise I wouldn't have left it for a second. My attention was captured the moment I began reading. Full of suspense!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hide and seek with a deadly twist
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 4, 2016
Kind of a strangely familiar genre, adult version of hide and seek with deadly consequences if you are found by whoever's turn it was to be the seeker... a group of people volunteer to play what they think is just hide and seek until they arrive at the suburban game zone. Then they're unwittingly forced into a situation of which there's no escape. No choice if you want to survive but to play and comply to the letter of the ever changing rules and hopefully win the game by being the last person surviving. The story was well written and a page turner. Well worth a read, take a simple idea most people are familiar with, add some wicked twists and enjoy from the safety of your kindle screen.
