Jeanie and Finnan have one thing in common, Jeanie’s late husband. But Finnan thinks Jeanie’s responsible for her husband’s death and as his faithful friend, (and a highlander?) he takes it upon himself to avenge his friend. He hates Jeanie even before he meets her. But… but, he has his own enemies who drive him to her for help.
Jeanie finds Finnan perplexing and infuriating and doesn’t know why he seems so cross with her.
And yet, and yet… Finnan has a certain charm to him. In true druidic style, the man asks for guidance—from trout, after all. But will he listen to their wise counsel for peace? Will his own enemies—who killed his father and hold his sister hostage—let him?
Can Jeanie melt the ice around Finnan’s heart? Or will he burn hers first? You’ll have to read to find out.
I enjoyed this novel, and especially the dashes of Finnan’s superstitions that added a flavor to the novel I’d like to see more of in the genre. I think, if you like highland romances, you’ll enjoy Ms. Strickland’s His Wicked Highland Ways as much as I did!
