Wicked Little Words falls into this genre beautifully. Suspenseful, gruesome, disturbing and at times you hold your breath, before you allow your mind to absorb the mayhem created by Stevie J Cole and BT Urruela. It is hard to believe there are two authors writing this book, the writing is smooth, the story line impeccable, there are no tells in this story line, none… and as someone who has read hundreds of books in this genre, I know how to seek each clue. It would be so easy to lose track of the details and inadvertently give away crucial information, yet Stevie J Cole and BT Urruela pull off an intricate story as well or better some of the big names.
The writing and editing is almost flawless in this dark page turner, there is nothing to distract from the disturbing thoughts and actions of one EA Mercer, serial killer and author extraordinaire. Who I at times found myself feeling affection for and I may have had delusions of grandeur that this character could be somehow saved.
Miranda Cross is a socially awkward bombshell who will has both sexes panting after her, and she is clueless, both in love and in her newly acquired job as the co-writer to EA Mercers highly anticipated next best seller.
Jackson Peralta the cop who shuffles through life chasing bad guys, and not much tail. But I must tell you, he should chase more tail, because once he emerges from his self-imposed shell, he is one dirty mouth talking good guy.
When the last word has been read remember this…
“I can see twisted demons fighting behind that smile.”
Let me start by saying that I do not normally read Suspense/Thrillers. I did pace myself with this one and did not read in the dark.
This story was beyond amazing!! I lived all of the characters in this book, including the dark & twisted ones. There are twists & turns in this story you will not see coming... AT ALL!! I love that the story kept me on the edge of my seat, always guessing and wondering what was going to happen next.
Stevie & BT write so well together, their words seemlessly fell together in this nail biting thriller!
Not going to give away any of the book, but once you start reading it, Edwin, Miranda, and Jax will drawn you in and not let go. Stevie J. Cole and BT Urruela have created characters that seem more real than fiction. You will feel their pain, mental anguish, and heart break. I highly recommend this book especially if you are looking for something that will grab you from the very beginning and keep you guessing until the very end.
Edwin Mercer is a New York Times best selling author that has success writing things straight out of your nightmares. He’s had a very successful career but with his last book having just mediocre reviews, he decides to find a writing partner to assist in writing his next novel. He decides to open up a national essay contest in hopes someone will spark his interest. When he finds the one that will write with him, she has no idea what’s in store for her. He may be a NYT best selling author, but what she gets was something she never expected!
Miranda Cross has idolized Edwin Mercer for as long as she can remember. His writing was so realistic and he just had a gift of making you feel like you were a part of his novel. She was a loner and felt like she never fit in anywhere but when it came to Mr Mercer writing, she connected with it. She never thought in a million years her essay would win and she would get to write with her idol. She also never expected for Edwin to be as extrinsic and a little bit crazy. She felt like there was something off with him. She would soon find out just how much so.
Edwin sees Miranda as a possession and when she catches the eye of another guy, that little bit of crazy will start to come out. Miranda had always felt like something as off but now Edwin just seems like he’s lost it. The multiple points of views in Wicked Little Words was genius and the reader gets to see player’s role as the story unfolds. The ending left me literally speechless!! SPEECHLESS!! I just don’t know what to make of it but to say it was disturbing, but also bloody brilliant! I would only read this one if you have read a dark book before as there is graphic detail of things you cannot start to imagine. But if you love the darker side, THIS IS A MUST READ!
