Missy is a widowed schoolteacher who has had her dreams of happily ever after crumbles, but it wasn’t when her late husband died. Her marriage was one that left her bereft of love and companionship. When she “borrows” a bucket, it brings her path across Leo’s, and the story starts there. She finds the blacksmith rough around the edges and ornery as an old mule with a thorn in his hoof.
She was quite surprised when Leo darkens her schoolhouse door with a proposition. He wants her to help him keep a wife and to teach him all he needs to know about gentle manners to do just that. As I read through the pages of this book, I found myself feeling as if I were a fly on the wall during their lessons. The yearning that Missy and Leo experience is palpable. Missy wants to be truly loved, and to have her own children to teach along with the town’s flock. Leo wants someone to share an intimate connection as well as the rest of their lives.
As the reader, I felt the fear, pain, and uncertainty that both well-written characters suffered. In the end, when Leo finally shows Missy how he truly feels about her, I craved the love and companionship that both Leo and Missy were searching for, and eventually found in one another. Another well-written, sweet love story by Lynn Winchester that I found hard to put down, even after the book covers was closed.
Leo, the gruff and grouchy blacksmith, finds himself being told he needs to remarry by his son. Leo thinks he is just fine toiling away in
solitude, but painful memories plague him. Eventually, Leo warms slightly to the idea of finding himself a wife...because like it or not,
he was lonely.
Our heroine, the sweet and spunky schoolteacher, Missy, agrees to help Leo polish up his rough edges in the hope
that he can find himself a wife, but will Missy lose her heart to our hero in the process?
I enjoyed this book so much! I just love it when a cantankerous fella falls for a sweetheart like Missy!
Don't miss this heartwarming read!
He definitely made her feel dizzy with feelings.
Leo Watkins is the town blacksmith, he's surly and ill tempered. At his sons insistence he's decided to remarry after twenty years being a widower it was time to "catch a wife"! And who better than the beautiful, sassy schoolteacher to teach him about "wooing a bride". What he never expected was the way she made his blood run hot and all he could think of was kissing her.
Lyn Winchester has written a charming beautiful love story, a second chance at love and happiness from the most unlikely people. Well written and full of spunky dialogue. Missy and Leo will make you laugh and cheer along with them, their attraction is made even more heartwarming with the depth of their feelings. This is a feel good story that leaves your heart warm long after the last page is read.
Received a copy from the author for my honest review, all opinions are my own and unsolicited.
