This cozy mystery moves at a placid, sometimes slow pace. The two main characters have some endearing, if quirky, characteristics.
The book could easily have been shortened. Some scenes, for example, when the main character meets the large manager
of a motel, unwind over an entire chapter yet have no real relevance to the actual story and could have been dealt with in a couple
of paragraphs.

The thrift shop 'aura' is well portrayed and researched and mention is made of various locations in the Pacific Northwest. The relationship between the two widows and the challenges of being somewhat impecunious and aging is well depicted.

Move over Agatha Christie! If you like fun and entertaining murder mysteries, then get this book and enjoy yourself! But keep on your toes, because this one takes you through some unchartered territory. Excellent novel with realistic characters that grab your heart and take you on a journey that ends with....well let's just say you will not be disappointed! I'd heartily recommend this one.

The characters were what made me love this book. Not perfect, but very easy to relate to and root for. I hope the author keeps them coming.

I finished Two Widows and the Thrift Store Murders in two days. Light, enjoyable reading. As another reviewer pointed out, the book probably could have been shorter, but the extra scenes I think added to the charm. You really like the characters, and I can't wait to start the second book in the series. The only negative is the ebook is peppered with grammatical errors that should have been caught in editing.

Two Widows and the Thrift Store Murders

Got this and the 2nd book in the series "Two Widows and the Misdirected Message" because I immediately liked the author's style of writing. It felt like you could be reading about some of your more "interesting" relatives! Just got her 3rd book "Two Widows and the Rest Home Menace" - can't wait to read it.

There were so many spelling and grammar errors in this book that I could not count them all. The plot was rather fun, but the book needed a good proofer/editor. It was difficult for me to read it because of all the errors.

I found the two widows, mother and daughter, to be potentially interesting leads in a new cozy mystery series. The mystery which they take it upon themselves to solve in this opener, however, never grabbed me.. I never felt a bit of suspense over the question of who dun it nor took seriously the "dangers" into which their quest led them. If you have read and liked later books in the series, then you would not be ill served to read this one to get at the beginnings. For those seeking, as many of us do, ever newer series in which to immerse ourselves, this is not a particularly good first encounter. It is not a bad book but s decent one. Any given cozy reader may find it better than did I; a non-cozy devotee might reasonably find it rather on the dull side.

This was a light, entertaining read with colorful characters you can't help but love. The style reminds me of one of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books (of which I have read all). Like others have said, a good proofreader/editor would really help this author, but if you can get past the errors, you might just enjoy this little treasure.
