The company keeps its overhead down with minimized advertising and marketing effort, and their products are American made. Unlike Smartwool, Wigwam is not simply a marketing company which purchases sweat shop Chinese-made products and sells them at an enormous profit. Wigwam's profit margins are far lower, they produce a superior product, and the money you spend on their socks returns 100 % back into the economy of the United States of America, unlike the money you spend on out-sourced Chinese products, the return of which to our economy is a mere 25 cents on the dollar spent. So get the heck out there and buy American-made products every chance you get. You'll get a better product and you'll be doing the right thing.
This particular sock is heavy and may require your boot size to be increased by 1/2 or 1 full size, depending on the sizing characteristics of the particular boot manufacturer.
Side note--try Wigwam's silk/marino wool hiking sock. It is a medium hiking weight and it breaths well in warm weather, and is really super comfy. The wool/silk combo is also warm when the early mornings or nights get chilly at higher elevations on the trail or in the campground. For the most part it utilizes a combination of yarn which replaces the nylon element with silk. Check it out.
