Stella Krane, whose alias is Stormy Knight, has run away from her hometown of Mystic, Connecticut to New York City to hide from her ex-boyfriend who also happens to be a deranged stalker. He is currently in jail but always knows where to find her and she is constantly looking over her shoulder and rarely sleeps well because she is fearing for her life. She is even afraid to go visit her mother so she stays away in order to protect her. Stella is working at a bar and meets Logan Wild. Logan is a former Navy SEAL who is currently a private investigator and is completely taken with Stella from the moment he meets her. He ends up saving her that very night from a truly horrible situation. Stella doesn't really trust anybody but she senses something different in Logan even though her guard is constantly up.
Logan has a hard time feeling anything emotionally due to the devastating events that happened with his parents several years ago while he was on a mission. He starts to fall for Stella and realizes that she is the first person who has made him feel anything in a long time. When the two are able to put their pasts behind them and move forward, they finally are able to find happiness.
Even though this style of book is different from what I usually read, I really enjoyed it! It is a darker, sexier romance than the ones I read but Melissa Foster, as always, delivers a fantastic, page-turning, kept-me-up-all-night novel that left me wanting more. I have already purchased the second book, Heath's story, and will be starting that right away. If you are a fan of Melissa Foster's books or are looking for a romance book with a darker edge to it, I would highly recommend picking up this book because it really was fantastic!
The Wild Boys After Dark series is about the four Bad brothers. Logan is the first with his story. Logan is a former Navy Seal turned private investigator. When he meets & helps a woman named "Stormy", he knows there is more to her story. He can tell she is running from something. The chemistry & connection are so intense, he wants to do what ever he can to protect her. Stella (Stormy) has learned how to hide & has left her identity behind to protect her family.
Loved this book & will be reading the rest of the stories that make up this series! Melissa does reference some of her other series in this book but judging by this book, this series will be more intense & hot! Logan is a protective alpha man who will do anything to protect his woman. What I really like is that the women in this series look to be just as strong as the men that grow to love them. Great reading!!
Stella is living her life in fear… she is hiding from a former boyfriend who wants to see her dead so she is wary of any relationships and is not even using her real name. Enter Logan… a rugged, tattooed former SEAL who despite his looks has a heart of gold and lives to rescue damsels in distress.
Their lives become entwined one night in the bar owned by his friend … their attraction is almost immediate and though they fight those feelings… they find themselves depending on each other and drawing strength from their relationship.
The language is a bit crude in places and the tone is definitely hotter than some of her other books but I really enjoyed this book. The characters are well developed and the story line moves along quite quickly. It was fun to see how the author tied this family to others in her previous series… it gave a sense continuity to the book.
I would recommend this book and look forward to reading more in the series as Logan has three brothers who have yet to have their stories told!
