I am a huge Melissa Foster fan, so when she announced that she had a bit of a darker series coming out I will admit I was skeptical. I am glad to say that I am pleasantly surprised. I LOVED this book. I thought as a shorter book than usual that it would feel rushed, but it doesn't. It's just as comfortable and complete as her usual novels with that extra erotic twist.
The alpha male is surprisingly tender but it doesn't take away from his masculinity or dominating tendencies. Instead of an innately submissive woman, the lead woman is independent and thoughtful. There are several touching moments that happen in the book (I won't share because you've got to read them to fully enjoy them) and while this is a HOT and STEAMY book, it shows the wonderful character development that I have always loved from Melissa Foster.
Expect needing a fan for the hot moments and a tissue for the emotional ones. It's definitely an A++++
While at a medical convention Heath hooks up with the gorgeous brunette that caught his eye at the bar. After an amazing night with Aly, he found himself seeking her out the next day. Never one to break his rules of no personal information and no last names - he couldn't help but think of the woman who brought him to his knees like no one ever had before. After a second night with Aly - he still wasn't ready to let her go. Going against everything he ever did before he asks for her number before leaving.
After being home for not even a day, Heath still can't get Aly out of his mind. A series of flirty texts leads to phone calls and... What is he doing?
This was a great story about how love can blindside you when you least expect it. Aly and Heath are delicious together. Both made for each other but both full of fear of failing in the monogamy game. Hot, sexy, steamy yet full of love and romance that we are rewarded with in every Melissa Foster book. I highly recommend The Wild Boys After Dark Series!
I also love reading the interaction between the brothers, and between the brothers and their mother. Heath and Ally's book is Sweet, sexy, and loving.
Added: 4/12/17- I have now also listened to this book on audible. It was my way to relax on a long plane ride. I found Robert Ashker Kraft to have a soothing voice that calmed me just enough that I was able to sit back without my heart pounding.
I loved edgy, controlling and commanding Heath Wild and reading his POV and his domineering personality endeared him to me all the more. He's tender and kind and considerate and he's basically resigned his future to "friends with benefits" only -- so when he meets someone that has everything in common with him, and she's a beautiful person inside and out, he pretty much goes nuts over her. He's obsessed and jealous and confused over his feelings and the thing is...so is she! Allyson (Ally) Jenner quickly becomes addicted to Heath and it scares the bejeezus outta her. She wants him all the time. Walls come crashing down and it was pretty great and fun to watch it unfold and play out. BUT......there was zero controversy. There was NO angst or turmoil or drama. It was all too convenient and while I enjoyed the story of these two sweet people...I kept waiting for something to happen. And it didn't. When I finished the story I sat there and thought "huh!...I guess that's it."
