Reggae doesn't need a hard core edge to be good ... this doesn't and it is. This will grow on you with repeated listening's. Listening with the top down, or out back with the BBQ, or just hanging out with friends .. it's good music .... enjoy it and the summer!!!!!

While I really enjoyed Ziggy's previous solo outings, I am thrilled with "Wild and Free." Ziggy returns to roots reggae on this release, and man does he ever return strong!

One of the things I appreciate about Ziggy is that he does his own thing and is not afraid to break out of the mold in which many people placed him. Julian and Stephen both sound a lot more like their father than Ziggy, but you can still hear a hint of Bob in Ziggy's voice. Like his father, Ziggy's songs range from playful and bouncy to political and serious to introspective. There is a good mix on "Wild and Free." The overall vibe of his lyrics is that of self-empowerment and looking within oneself to find answers in the midst of a complicated world.

I've listened to the entire album at least a dozen times and still cannot get enough. I love the positive vibration that Ziggy exudes. I look at his music as a gift to the planet. In a world of turmoil Ziggy's music makes me realize that everything will be alright.

This is my favorite Ziggy album since the last Melody Makers. The first song and title track with Woody is great even though the lyrics are wonky. The rest of the album has enough variation to keep it from falling into the normal reggae cliches. Strong vocals, music and song writing.

"Wild And Free" in my opinion is a much better solo album than "Love Is My Religion" yet not as genius as "Dragonfly". It is a very good reggae album with some great tracks that just make you feel good. I was very surprised at how good Woody Harrelson's voice is on the opening track,"Wild And Free" where Ziggy sings;"I see hemp fields forever growing wild and free" with a great follow up by Woody;"I see marijuana trees blowin in the breeze". Ziggy's voice is always beautiful like his fathers.
In a more important song titled "Personnel Revolution" he sings of a time that this country is going through now and that is the right's for everyone and our corrupt government, he sings;"I need a revolution, my very own revolution, my personnel revolution","crying times have changed, fighting everyday, there must be a way". "Is this democracy?" he sings. Such mellow and relaxing grooves. In "Changes" he sings,"There's so much hurt all over the place, changes, for ordinary people."
Ziggy Marley has made an album that deals with the pressure of the everyday man and woman, struggling or otherwise. It's a very good album with excellent production, it's an album that will make you think of yourself and others. Ziggy is on top of his writing skills, other notables favorites are, "Get Out Of Town", "Roads Less Traveled", "Welcome To The World" and others that will keep this disc in your player for a while.

ziggy marley wild and free, is not too shabby of an album. Its not great but its not horrible either. Being a hugee Bob Marley fan the past year and a half or so, i had to check out ziggy when i found out there was a new album. Upon getting it i was humored at the way the cd is held, but the music was really interesting. I was suprised to find not just reggae but rap involved in it too and even some hard over driven guitar solos. Over all really not a bad album but it could be a tad better.

Love this one - I was blown away when I found out that Woody Harrelson is on the 1st track with Ziggy (who knew Woody could sing??). Postive vibes throughout - "Roads Less Travelled" is probably my favorite track. Ziggy continues to preach peace, love and acceptance - buy this album, you won't be disappointed.

....it may not be serious Studio One or Harry Mudie dub or Burning Spear at his most political etc but it is a damn fine listen. Light and breezy - yeah but in a good way. It puts a smile on your and makes you feel good. So whats not to like? Think Sunday morning with the coffee brewing rather than Sat night and the rum going down and this is a fine album.
