J.P. is a great fiddle player. His style is clearly defined by the rural Southern Appalachian region from which he comes. Soft, Simple well played and very well timed "old-time" music. His tunes are generally slower, but he leaves no question that he could play any tune he wanted!
If you're looking for barn burnin' bluegrass or Texas Swing, J.P.'s NOT your man. If your looking for waltzes beautifully executed look no further. The recording quality is good. (no noticable clicks, pops hiss etc.)
The liner notes are long and entertaining!

This is my favorite old time fiddle album. Just fiddle and guitar, nothing else.
