Dr. Steere is not an angry, bitter alpha hero. He is a man who has been typecast for his entire life, and still manages to see the good in (most) people. I enjoyed the way he courted Ida Page. He was charming and adorable and persevered even when she tried to tell him to stop, for his own good.
Ida Page is a strong woman, which I'm sure is not typical of that era, but I love strong heroines, and she did not disappoint. I thought the author did a good job differentiating the feelings she felt for Dr. Steere, vs. the men she'd been with in her sordid past.
If you enjoy sweet romance, if you enjoy reading about an attractive and adorable hero and a strong heroine, you will enjoy this book. If you like historicals or westerns, even better.
