From the Author

Wild-born is the first installment of the Psionic Pentalogy, a series of five full-length novels that follow the life and adventures of a telekinetic teenager and telepathic child through a dark world of secret paranormal societies and deadly religious cults. The protagonists start fairly young, and mature over the course of the series, which spans approximately five years of their lives. Wild-born covers the first year, introducing the psionic world and many of the primary characters.

In order to guarantee the quality of the writing and overall storyline of the series, all five books of the Psionic Pentalogy were completed before any of them were published. While the story is told from a teenager's point of view, the books were never written with an exclusively young adult audience in mind, and I am hopeful that readers of all ages will enjoy the series. WOW - not a single moment where nothing is happening. It was action from start to finish. I know there are a lot of books about people born with powers but I felt this one was different. Following the story of a child left on his own with powers he does not understand, trying to find his sister, and making his way through a new world. There are several different factions after him and a few people trying to help him. You don't know who to trust and what is really going on. It keeps you on your toes from beginning to end. Great great story! Some violence but no sex and not too scary for teens

Really enjoyed this book. The 13-year old hero was believable and I really related to him. He had heart. The action kept me interested and made me think what I would do in his position. I love books that make me think. The ending was satisfying with enough threads to make you want more. In the beginning, he says he didn't realize everyone else didn't have things falling or breaking near him. That is so totally realistic. We think everyone experiences the same things we do. I will add that I am a 70-year old great grandmother. This book is not just for teens.

This is an unusual paranormal series. There is no love story per se but there is a lot of family kind of love and the author really has the adolescent mind down pat. It is an incredible adventure and I am really looking forward to reading more. It reminds me a lot of how much I enjoyed Harry Potter, and the twilight series. There is definitely a lot more story to this adventure.

I'm only 50% into the first book, I have the next 3 books as well, but I wanted to write a review since I'm not seeing any here for this author. The book is good, really good. It's extremely well thought out. It's written in an amazing way, first person (which sometimes is off putting but not here), excellent editing (I've only found one word that I was curious about it's placement)and the storyline keeps you reading. It begins with a boy of 12, it's the telling of his story, in his words, but it reads so much more than that. You aren't burdened with the antics of a 12 year old, mostly because he hasn't had time to fully appreciate being a kid, and you get to watch him mature while enduring so much a 12 shouldn't have too. It continues beyond the age of 12, so don't think it's a 'kid' book, that's simply where it starts. I'm infatuated with the book so far. I may have to come back and revise this review but I seriously doubt it. If you like the unusual, beserkers, angels, guardians, and superhuman abilities, then you'll love this. I am not a 'reviewer' so please don't think I did this because I had to. I was just completely surprised by the lack of reviews on here and had to post something. This author can write, and it's so refreshing to find one that can tell a story, make certain it's edited (readable), and do it in such a bang up way! Kudos to you Mr. Howell. You have earned a loyal follower :-)

Great summer escape the heat or reality whatever. This first volume of a five part series is free so what have you got to loose? I loved the authors take or leave it I could care less attitude in the intro and from there I got hooked. Hooked by the ongoing at times far fetched storyline but hey this is fiction, but more so by the main troupe of characters and a few of the later supporting cast. I really dreaded coming to the end of the series and stretched it out as long as possible, but without reviling anything the author does leave the door open a crack? I hope he decides to open it and venture through it and continue this series whitch would take place in the not to distant future of where this chapter of the saga ends.

This is a review for the whole series, with great effort not to include any spoilers... I have read all five books and can honestly say that this is one of the best fantasy series I've ever read! The author pulled off first person narration with perfection! There is quite a lot of action, and even the slower parts are interesting and vital for getting to know the characters better. The characters are well rounded, they are as fallible as they are brave, and the "good" guys do plenty of not so good things. They're so realistic that I actually cried for them, twice! The world building is no less impressive, but no spoilers here! I very highly recommend this series, though because of violence I would suggest this for teenagers and up!

While this is technically a place to review the first Psionics book, this is actually an overall review of the entire series. Maybe it will help those who want to know more before they invest the time in the pentalogy. For me, this was simply a fantastic reading experience. The books are well-written, the characters are well-defined and complex, and the plot is imaginative. As the main character warns the reader in the introduction to each of the books, you’re not always going to find his journey pleasant or fulfilling or end the way that you want it. But it is always interesting and compelling. I highly recommend this series. I don’t think that you will be disappointed and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
