Ryder is just to getting anything he wants with the snap of his fingers. He's the biggest playboy that ever existed and he acts as if he doesn't care about the things in his life, besides the women the hang around him, and even then he doesn't care for them but rather, what they can do for him.
After an accident in a hot tub *insert laugh* lands him in the hospital with a broken arse, he finally realizes that maybe the lifestyle he was living wasn't all it cracked up to be.
No pun intended...okay, so intended!
With an broken arse, Ryder has nothing better to do, so he opens some fan-mail. After a few marriage requests and some letters from crazy quacks, he comes across a letter with childlike writing on it. Curious, he opens the letter and reads the letter of harshest critic he has ever met. That person also happens to be a child who has a lung disease that keeps him from doing things other kids his age does. He's mad that Ryder takes everything in his life for granted and doesn't use his life and his abilities for good use.
The child wishes he had a life like Ryder and it's then that Ryder realizes that he isn't the person he thought everyone else saw. Trying to call the child, he ends up talking to the child's' mother, Scarlett, and she and Ryder form a friendship that starts healing both their wounds.
But is this new relationship too good to be true?
All-in-all, I enjoyed this book. A few words in the story repeated so many times and distracted me a bit, but it didn't take away from the story. I like Scarlett's and her son's character, but I didn't really like Ryder. Too cocky and arrogant for my liking.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast, humorous, and fun read!
Ryder is on top of the tennis world one more match away from the win at the French Open, but tennis isn't enough for him. When a table of four young women offer to take him home for the night who is he to resist? I mean after all he has slept with almost 250 women in 12 months. Except the night doesn't go as planned, he ends up in the hospital and bedridden for weeks. Now something as simple as responding to his fan mail may change his life forever!!
By the way even knowing so much about Ryder, I still feel so bad for him... here's to hoping volume 2 turns up some good luck!
- My foot loses traction, and before I can even understand what the f*** is happening, I'm on my back, starting up at the sky. In the distance I can hear a woman screaming. It takes me a moment to realize that it's me.
- Mum frets, pacing around me like she is herding sheep.
The first book is short and leaves you with a cliffhanger. I'm touched by the story about her son but not much else. For me this story could be told in one book and not drawn out in volumes. It's not that compelling. Not to mention I find it hard to believe that Scarlett would spend days communicating with Ryder if she was seeing someone else. The story ends leading you to believe she is involved with someone. It's used to pursued you into wanting to read further.
After an unfortunate accident Ryder is bed ridden and is having a rough time with it. That's when he opens a letter from a little boy who scolds him for taking advantage of everything that he has. This is when things start to get interesting.
After getting close to Scarlett and her son, Ryder starts to have feelings for the woman that he hasn't ever had. He wants to take things to another level, but does she want to take it there as well?
At the beginning you find that Ryder is an ass, but throughout the story he starts to grow on you. Then at the end your heart just breaks for him. I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens next.
When Ryder gets injured doing what he loves best in his private time, he is left bed-ridden and put off his game for a while (both tennis and sex) and during his recovery comes across something quite unexpected.
To tell you too much would ruin it, but let's just say, while opening up some fan mail, he gets WAY more than what he bargained for and when he decides to follow up with the sender, his whole life takes a huge detour.
I really really loved the quick, fun pace of this book...it was hysterical in parts, sweet and tender in others but what happens on the last few pages really upset me and left me screaming at my kindle...LOL!
I can not wait to get back into the story of Ryder and the "fans" who have caused him such turmoil...no good deed should go unrewarded...and just when it looks like Ryder has put others before his selfish ways, he gets a huge wake-up call. Enjoy this first FREE book and buy the next two!!
