Sara Shield, a horse breeder on Terra Minor, has no use for men, even though Zetithian males have an impressive array of characteristics making them the most coveted sexual partners in the galaxy. When the expensive stud she had shipped in from Earth disappears, rumors fly that her neighbor Jerden, one of the few survivors of a genocide, has been seen riding a magnificent stallion. Terra Minor was designated the new Zetithian homeland following the destruction of their home planet. Jerden, who attracts animals of all kinds, tries to return Danuban, but the horse has his own ideas. When Jerden falls ill, Danuban manages to bring him to Sara’s house. Sara and Jerden, both being stalked by suitors, decide to pretend to be dating. Brooks gives Jerden and Sara more than 200 pages to become real, believable, and important to the reader before their relationship evolves into a highly erotic sexual one. Although this is the ninth book in the Cat Star Chronicles, it stands firmly on its own merits. --Diana Tixier Herald

Having sworn off men since she was a teenager, Sara was more curious about her Zitithian neighbor than she was attracted to him. Sara's neutral scent intrigued Jerden. But he was not going to do anything about it until the Andalusian stallion forced the issue.
The 9th book in the Cat Star Chronicles series, author Cheryl Brooks brings the readers back to Terra Minor, the setting of OUTCAST, the 4th book in the series, which personally for me is the best story arc in the series and the one that tugs at your heartstrings. It was nice to catch up with Bonnie and Lynx.
In fact, fans of the series will meet their favorite characters. This is not a grand reunion though. The heroes from three books did not make their appearance. (I hope that if there is going to be another one, Ms Brooks will bring back the rock star, and his brother who married a Zitithian woman plus the only Zitithian who lives on Earth)
Back to the review - As I have mentioned before in my other reviews of her works, Ms. Brooks can write a good yarn. WILDCAT is as good a read as the others. And with a bit of mystery thrown in, I can't turn the pages fast enough.
The story of Jerden is parallel to the story of Lynx. And though WILDCAT and OUTCAST are standalone novels, reading OUTCAST will give readers an idea how deep Jerden's anguish is and how erectile dysfunction affect a Zitithian psyche by reading Lynx's story.
Sara's story is the ingredient that separated this book from Outcast, and thus making Wildcat definitely a new story. Her courage and strength is remarkable, which endears her to the readers from page 1.
Now, with Jerden's story done, I am now waiting for Onca's story. I hope he goes to Earth, I hope that in the next one, Ms Brooks will allow the readers to catch up with the rest of the cats.
This book is rated M for Mature due to sexual content.
