Game feeder 6 volt motor

Good product. Replaced the motor that went bad on my Moultrie game feeder with this product. Moultrie didn't sell the individual motors, just the entire controller unit, at least for the model I have. I wasn't going to spend more than half the cost of a new feeder to simply replace a cheap motor. The motor is small, comes with 2 screws for the top mount, will spin either direction, and has a standard 1/8" shaft that fits most spinner plates. To install, make sure it spins in the correct direction if your spinner plate is directional by connecting the positive and negative (ground) wires to a battery and mark the correct motor terminals. Most directional spinner plates have blades that, if you can imagine, push wind away from the center as it rotates (as opposed to grabbing the wind and pulling it inward). I soldered the wires to the motor and mounted it to the housing with the 2 screws. Soldering is important since everything vibrates and will be exposed to at least some moisture over time. I added 6 inches of wire from the battery with standard crimp connectors and wire. My particular feeder used a slightly shorter motor with no extra room at bottom of motor housing, so I had to cut a hole for the motor at the bottom. As extra precaution, I dropped a small round plastic container into the hole to keep critters out. I could have also glued some screen or plastic onto the bottom. Replacement was easy despite modifying the original motor housing.

I have a sun slinger spreader mounted to the bottom of a hanging feeder and the motor went bad. I use the spreader hanging from a lamp post in the Walmart parking lot to sling M&M’s and Hershey kisses for the wildlife there. It keeps the wildlife in the area long enough to get some good pictures and provide some quality entertainment. I replaced the bad motor with this new motor, the new motor was a little longer than the old motor but it fit just fine and works very well. The new motor seems a little stronger than the old motor was even when it was new. I think I’m going to add a little bit of dimes and quarters and some pork rinds to see if that attracts and different wildlife or keeps the wildlife in the area for just a little bit longer. I’ve seen a few fights over the Hershey kisses, which was very entertaining, I’m hoping the coinage will cause a few more fights and provoke a greater sense of urgency while the wildlife is gathering.

Perfect Fit with OEM Performance

My buddy's deer feeder kept failing to distribute corn. We'd see it spin about a quarter turn and stop. After way too much deliberation we decided to change the motor out. Wish I'd done that sooner because that solved all our problems.

This motor fit our 6 volt system perfectly and was identical to the OEM motor down to the part number stampings. It took me about 10 minutes to install with basic hand tools (screwdriver, allen wrench).

My only complaint is the polarity of the motor is hard to see when it's installed in the feeder. I took a sharpie and drew a "+" and a "-" on the sides of the motor so it's easy to wire up in-place without wiring it backwards.

In all, a fine replacement motor for our feeder.

Easy install and working great

Update (June 2016):

I bought one of these mid-October of 2015 and it started failing last month (May 2016). It has now completely failed (Early June 2016). It didn't even last 8 months. My feeder sits behind my house and has a strong battery w/solar panel. It throws twice a day for five seconds each time. I am not stressing out the motor by having it operate a combined 10 seconds a day.

I tried to inquire whether this has a 1 year warranty but I have been unable to find a way to reach Wild Game Innovations.

While I don't expect this motor to last forever (clearly it isn't very expensive) I do expect to at least get a couple hunting seasons out of it. I am going to order another one in hopes that I received a dud. If I have the same experience with the second one I am going to have to find an alternative.

I purchased six of these when my Moultrie feeders stopped working one by one. Replacing the units was nearly the price of the entire feeder. Once I got the motor out of the housing soldering the replacement motors was a snap. Remember heat the contact first then add the solder. Other reviews stated the motor was too big and it was hard to insert the 6 volt battery. It wasn't an issue for me

Good product. I replaced a seized motor from a Moultrie Pro Feeder. This was much stronger than the OEM motor and was an easy fit. This motor was same diameter, has matching mounting holes and was approximately 1/2" longer than the Moultrie original. Even with the extra length, there was still adequate room for the battery. The shaft was a bit longer as well, but that was simple to adjust with a dremel. The original motor was very weak when I purchased it and would stall quite often, so I didn't want to spend $50 to buy a complete replacement Moultrie unit and still have a weak motor. Problem solved.
