As much as I want to give this backpack a higher rating, I just can’t. I have a real issue with companies doing the whole “bait and switch” thing, and I feel like that’s what is being done here.
When looking at the main picture for this item, there are two things that are clearly shown but aren’t actually there: the mesh side pocket and the design on the straps.
As much as I’d like the design to display on the straps, that’s not a dealbreaker for me. The lack of a water bottle holder on the side when one is clearly pictured, absolutely is.
Hopefully the company will fix this issue so as not to dupe future customers.

Pros: The robot pattern is cute and brightly colored. The bag can be used by boys or girls. We also have a matching duffel bag, which has held up nicely, and a lunch bag that matches very closely. Backpack has plenty of storage space for a child in preschool or elementary school. There's a smaller front pocket for smaller items, and a side pocket for storing drinks, small toys, gloves. Shoulder straps have suitable padding. Zippers function smoothly and my child can open and shut them independently.
Cons: After only 4 months of normal use, the top handle strap is frayed and coming apart from the bag. I can sew, but this is an awkward location and I'm not sure a regular needle-and-thread sewing job will hold up. If my child were carrying heavy books, a laptop or other cumbersome items, I would expect the strap to fray (though he doesn't seem to regularly use the top handle, so not sure why it's ripping). For the price, ~$25 USD, I am disappointed in the quality of this product, considering the normal use and weight we've put in this bag.

We purchased this backpack for my son who is in preschool. He has used the backpack daily since mid-September, so for about 4 months. On average he carries about 4 pounds in the bag -- lunchbox and drink container, one school folder and a change of clothing. I thought this pic may help other parents gauge the backpack's relative size and fit. Our daughter is five - petite with a slender frame (she wears size 4T bottoms... if that helps). For her, the straps are adjusted at, almost, the shortest length. She said that it was: very "comfy", "not heavy" (i.e. the pack is constructed such that the weight is well balanced), AND "the other kids had boring backpacks!".

Highly recommend this product! We have been looking for a cute backpack that was suitable for our five year old kindergartner. We needed one large enough to hold standard 11 1/2 x 8 folders, her lunch bag, etc. The issue with the ones we'd found at the local stores: 1. Cheap construction 2. Too large, or too small, for a kinder - 2nd grader 3. Cheesy / generic designs with licensed characters (not our style!). My sons didn’t come with the mesh pockets on the side, but that’s ok. My son is 3 and just started preschool but needed a backpack large enough to fit a full size folder. This back pack is so cute and he loves the print since he’s into all things fish. I also like that it’s not huge on him, as I see back packs on other kids in his class that look huge. This fits him just right.
