Product Description

Ant Trap - Trap-It Moat Protects Your Hummingbird or Bird Feeders From Foraging Ants

The Trap-It ant moat is the perfect addition for your hummingbird or oriole feeder so that you end up feeding your hummingbirds and not ant colonies. The Trap-It was expertly designed by engineer Rex Hiday in 1989 and has been a mainstay in gardens since then.

Ants and other nuisance insects are hesitant and unable to cross deep or wide barriers of water. The Trap-It ant moat separates ants from your feeder by creating a small but impenetrable wall of water. Hang your Trap-It from a branch, post, or house and then attach your feeder to the Trap-It's bottom hook. Now, any ants out looking for an easy meal will find themselves drowning in the impassable Trap-It ocean. Fill with only 6 oz of water and you will find your investment in bird feed won't be carried away by a colony of ants.

With the Trap-It you will have the best item to enjoy and protect your hummingbird feeder. Protect your investment and your hummingbirds with the simple addition of the Trap-It ant moat.

These are great, just like everyone has already said. However, in Texas the water can evaporate in hours and it was not stopping the ants. So, instead of water, at the start of hummingbird season, I smear the inside of mine with a little petroleum jelly. Stopped the ant problem and I don't have to keep running out with a cup of water. Just clean it out at the end of the season. These ant moats will last for years.

We have tried everything to stop the steady trail of ants into our humming bird feeders. We saw this product at another house and wanted to give it a try. The trail of ants was gone in a day. Even without refilling the water in the moat, the ants have not returned.

This item is great for your humming bird feeders. Keeps all the crawlers out. Plus the other birds in your yard like to get a drink of water from it so it has a double purpose.

After so many great reviews on this thing I don't think there is really much I can offer. I bought one locally a while ago and it worked so well I added two other feeders and picked up a couple more traps here on Amazon, (where at the time of this writing are shipping for free). There is only one species of hummer that gets this far north here in New England, and then only in the summer time. So feeding them for the time alloted is a real treat. But in the past nothing has stopped the ants from getting to the nectar. Sometimes I wouldn't see anything on the feeder itself, only to open it for cleaning to find it clogged with them. This very simple but perfectly designed cup creates a moat that the ants can't get by. The cup is about the size of a large cap on a spray paint can, and the hook on the bottom and the top completes it. Some reviewers here have talked about the water evaporating quickly on hot days. I tried adding a little cheap cooking oil to the cup and it has slowed down the evaporation considerably. (If you like, you can fill the cup entirely with cooking oil and all you have to do is change it out and clean it every couple of weeks or so). The ants are repelled and cannot swim across the oil any more than they can the water. Great little item that takes care of a very disgusting and aggravating problem. Highly recommended... : )

This is a very simple device that keeps ants from crawling down the string to the feeder. You fill it with water each time you change the nectar in the feeder. It works very well for me.

I had heard that this ant moat worked really well, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it really did. We're into the colder months now, but when I received my ant moat there were still plenty of ants around. Not one made it to the hummingbird feeder. I'm very glad I decided to purchase this item. I highly recommend it.

I have a hummingbird nest up in my upward slope of a backyard. Since attaching this to the feeder, and filling with water, I have noticed that the hummingbirds love to drink the water, and perch on it. I have even seen one take a bath in it.
It does get dirty after a few days. So when I change my hummingbird food, I just take the whole thing down, and change the water. The hummingbirds also like the red, and are attracted to it. So it's a win win situation.
On hotter days, the water needs to be changed more freqnetly as it tends to dry out.
I have one on every hummingbird feeder I own. Also it does keep the ants out as long as there is water in it.

This really works! I had tiny ants in one feeder, and big carpenter ants in another. They just can't get to the feeder any more. Only thing is, some of the other birds like to drink from it. A cute problem
to have. Who could be mad at a little chickadee drinking from the ant trap? I just check every day or so, to see whether I need to add more water. Thanks for a great and attractive soluion to my ant problem.
