From the Author
This is the third book in my open-ended series of You Will ___ Space(TM) books. It was tough to break down the many topics that go with designing modern and future spacecraft, but I did my best in 48 pages, and I think you will like the result. While any age will enjoy the dozens of simple illustrations, and some of the concepts, a smart 3rd grader or older will really dig into it. The book breaks spaceship design into component systems, and then adds in structure to put it all together. Like the previous books, the experiments use things commonly available like water bottles, balloons, chopsticks, paper, and tape. One experiment uses bubble gum too (hearkening to the engineers lore "That thing was put together with bubble gum and bailing wire"). One experiment is actually a bit of a game, and could be made into one for multiple players. I originally included the content in You Will Fly Spaceships, but realized very early that the added spaceflight topic would overly fatten the book beyond my target of less than 50 pages. This book should allow anyone of any age to look at space news and understand a lot more then they already might. My hope is that I net a few kids into the wonderful world of space technology, and just maybe get a few future engineers, scientists, and astronauts in the process. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did creating it, for it is truely a labor of love for me. Bright stars and fast craft, Bryce
