Here's what the book really accomplishes. Osborne's grandfather was a world-famous successful businessman and one of what made Ernest Henderson and the Sheraton Hotels a success is, Henderson inspired the 20,000 people who worked for Sheraton. He gave them a better vision of themselves. People who worked for him often said that he made them better people. Osborne is following in the footsteps of his grandfather. Osborne provides us with a better vision of ourselves.
After reading Will Your Way Back, I find almost on a daily basis that I can try a little harder in whatever I'm trying to do, whether work, relationships, health, or studies. This book is transformational.
Then I read his book...
It is truly amazing how a person can come out of this maelstrom of physical, mental, and emotional trauma into a truly uplifting and engaging personality. I've read a number of books about some amazing people who have survived situations that leave me astounded. These books were about experiences that were of short duration--but of course they are still dealing with the aftermath. Jamie's accident is about a continual grinding day by day fight and struggle to shape a new life of meaning. This to me is what is so inspirational about Jamie's book.
I think this book is impact-full on two levels. One is just the pure awe of what humans can accomplish through force of will. The second is the insights Jamie has given us of what can be done in our own lives to get off the merry-go-round so many are on. Here's just one quote from the book that will illustrate this point:
Without choice there is no way forward. And without moving forward, you are simply sitting on a merry-go-round ....going nowhere
Jamie has made the choice to move forward and by writing this book can help others shift the paradigm of their own lives.
Truly an inspirational and useful book for everyone.
Great reading for anyone on life's lessons and the courage it takes to pull through adversities.
