Some of the greatest arcade games from the 1980s come to the PlayStation in Arcades Greatest Hits. Get rid of the dirt in Bubble. Navigate through enemy territory and try to save the humans in Defender and Defender II. Turn your opponents into eggs in Joust. In Robotron 2004, you will have to fight hordes of mutant robots to protect the last human family. Get ready for outrageous space battles in Sinistar. All of the games have their classic graphics and sound. Remember what great games are really about with Arcades Greatest Hits.

Despite the fact that they pretty much just threw 6 roms on a CD with a menu and sold it, that doesn't make it a bad thing. These arcade classics are some that you should NOT miss out on. With my favorites being Sinistar, Defender, and Robotron 2084, it's definetly worth the price I paid of only 2 bucks, USED! (Plus shipping and Handling).
The sound is great! Be prepared to have your room busting with retro arcade sounds such as blasting, explosions, and awesome music! And with 2 player functions available for many of these games; grabbing your buddies and two controllers can make for an excellent game night where your friends scream and throw their controller to the ground as you own them in some good ol' Joust or beat them at the high score in Robotron.
The game includes TONS of extra's, but it follows the rule of almost all video-game compilations. It includes box art, interviews, fun facts, and...well that's it. Haha, but still, they can be interesting to watch for some reason...
The only two things I need to mention is that you get a really cool menu selection screen and a nice, animated intro of a spaceship...riding through space for about 15 seconds before passing the William's orbital arcade station, haha. Anyways, pick this up, it's a lot of fun and having Joust tournaments have never been this much fun!
Sinistar: An awesome space themed game. Your goal is to mine crystals to make Sini-bombs by shooting asteroids which plague the screen. This can be slightly annoying, because enemies can steal the crystals, and you can easily miss the crystals by making a sharp turn. Graphics are awesome for the time, while sound effects are just as awesome. 5 out of 5. Beware, Coward.
Joust: The classic Buzzard-smashing game. Your goal is to smash other knights on buzzards by being higher in the air than them. This is the only game where you need two remotes to play with another person. Controls are good, gameplay awesome, graphics awesome as well. 4.5 out of 5.
Defender I and II: The reason why these games are grouped because the are so much alike. Though Defender II has slightly different graphics and features, the goal remains the same: to defend humans and destroy enemies. Gameplay and controls are good. Graphics and audio are classically awesome. 4.5 out of 5 for both games.
Robotron 2084: In two words: awesomely intense. Not for your casual gamer. Goal is to kill robots, save humans and just plain survive. Graphics ok, controls are the same. Gameplay and sound affects are the epitome of '80s games. 5 out of 5.
Bubbles: Misguided effort to be cute. Goal is to clean the sink while not being popped. All aspects decent. Still a fun game. 3.5 out of 5.
Playing awesome arcade games like this on my ps2 (yes I do have newer consoles) makes me wonder why crappy newer games come out every day. Better graphics doesn't automatically a better game. Hopefully people will realize this and try harder. Hope my review helps!
Six of the best games that Pac-Man made possible are perfectly emulated on this disc, which competed head-to-head with the Namco Museum series on the Playstation. Who won? THE GAMERS!
Fun for the whole family, except maybe for sinistar.. If you play the game too loudly, the title character's voice may frighten and disturb small children.
Plays on Playstation 1-3
reproduces this games. The only diference is that ussing the dualshock controler makes it more dificult than ussing the controlers on the arcade machines.
