Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

K-Gr 2-Based on characters created by Ezra Jack Keats, this is the story of a birthday party Peter throws for his dachshund, Willie, inviting his friends to bring their pets. Games such as Give the Dog a Bone soon give way to mayhem, as the cat reaches into the fishbowl, Willie goes for the cat, and the cake falls off the table, landing in pieces on the floor. Beginning readers will readily follow the action-packed story and recognize familiar characters in the cheery illustrations, which closely resemble those of Keats.-Sally R. Dow, Ossining Public Library, NY
