I recently started taking the Wilton cake-decorating classes at my local craft stores. My instructor said she had never used this product. I ordered it and tried it. It is the niftiest little gadget. Be sure to read the instructions. The icing needs to be at least ½ inch think where you use this and it takes a little practice to master using it, but the results are worth it. I have used it both on the sides of my cakes and on top as background texture. I got more complements using this then when I just iced and decorated the cakes. If you are into or getting into cake decorating, defiantly get this. You will not regret it!

I would've been better off buying the decorating comb or triangle for MUCH MUCH less (one or two dollars). The pieces of this product fall out and don't fit well in the holder. I was so disappointed. I had wanted this product for a long time. Now I wish I hadn't wasted my money.

I love this product. It makes it very easy to decorate the sides of my cakes so they look fabulous. I am not the most creative person- and my cakes often show it- not anymore! My only complaint, although minor, is that you have to add a fairly thick layer of thinner consistency icing for the tool to work easily. Otherwise it pulls the edges right out of the holder. Once I discovered this trick I was very pleased!

I purchased these thinking they would make lovely sides on my cakes. I have been making cakes for about 5 years and can't stand these things. They don't work correctly or if you are getting it to work they want to slip in the holder causing a mess in the icing. It is not worth the $$

I was very disappointed with this product. when it said it included an instruction book I though it would show you what pieces to but together to create the different designs but it don't it's a guessing game. Also the pieces fall out of the handle when using it or slide back into the handle. If I could return it I would. Not worth the money I spent on it.

The pieces keep falling out. I have tried many things to keep the pieces in place long enough to do a quick pattern on my cake but nothing worked. This is a waste of time and money.

Like others have commented, my pieces kept falling out. When I went to use it for the first time on a soft buttercream frosting, the design was so bad after a couple of attempts, I gave up and frosted the side of the cake with a spatula.

I also had the problem in that some of the blades were extremely difficult to get into the cheaply made holder.

Save your money and buy a cake comb instead. I'm angry Wilton would put out such a junky piece of equipment, and have learned my lesson after three such experiences - read the reviews before purchasing any Wilton products!

I've come to depend upon the quality and uniqueness of Wilton products. Especially since I'm a novice and the equipment isn't very costly.

The idea of this product is clever, but the implementation could have used a bit more thought.

The plastic teeth fall right out of the holder, when you get them all in, the bottom or the top one falls out, as if they are not all completely the same thickness.

Even if you use clips or super human strength, nothing short of holding your breath and praying will keep those bad boys in place while you scrape around the length of your cake. They design doesn't go flush to the bottom of the cake either, which is sad.

1/2 inch of frosting will never be enough, unless you've placed your perfectly round cake in the perfect center of a perfectly level spinning cake decorating stand. It may just work, but only if you have built a contraption to hold the loose toothed contraption perfectly level and at a consistent depth into the frosting. Otherwise you are left with slightly wavy, bumpy lines that are not able to be fixed until you smooth it all out and slather on another 1/2 inch of frosting.

Crazy. Cake decorating should be a fun artful expression of your ability and adoration for the craft.

If you buy this, I guarantee your little ones will learn a few new words that won't go over well at pre-school!
