I decided to make cake pops which turned out to be harder than anyone thought.
This is basically white chocolate. If you're using them for cake pops you're really gonna want to buy Paramount Crystals to thin this out. On its own it's too thick to dip your pop into.
I bought white candy melts thinking I can just dye it any color I want. I did a lot of research on cake pops and they say to use oil or powder dye, but NOT gel. Well, I only had gel and nobody said why not to use gel. So I used gel.
I'll tell you why not to. It ruins the consistency of the candy melts. It turns grainy and weird and thick. It even started to separate at the end. It was a disaster. I recommend if you're making cake pops for the first time to buy a couple packages of this. I thought 12 oz. Would be more than enough, I would buy three just to work with it.
I wouldn't make cake pops again they're too much work but as far as the candy melts they we're fine. They definitely taste great.
