I bought these candy melts for chocolate lolipops. I had already made a bunch and ran out of melts, so I ran to my local Michaels, but they were out of stock. I noticed that Wilton had changed their packaging since the last time I bought melts, Dec ‘17.
I ordered these to match my other lolipops, which were Wilton Bright White from the old packaging. Well they are completely different, especially in overall quality. I guess maybe Wilton changed packaging as well as ingredients? The color is off, the flavor is chalky, and they don’t melt fully without adding crisco. Now I know with candy melting, sometimes it’s suggested to add crisco or a fat, but I never had to do that with the Wilton melts before. Forget flavor too. The old melts taste actually like white chocolate. These do not. The bright white color does not match my old melts.
I rate 1 star because they serve their purpose, but I’ll be switching brands next time around.

Poor cake pops!

Cake pops are the bomb! I make them quite a bit, they’re super easy and super fun. I usually just stop at the local grocery store and grab the ingredients. I bought these candy melts, thinking they’d be great, or at least better than the store brand I usually buy. To my surprise, they ended up lumpy and hard to dip anything in. Suppper bummed! I ended up running to the store late at night, and buying regular store brand I usually buy. The store brand is not bright white, but at least I can make something a little more presentable!! These are very bright white like the name suggests, but something about the way they melt is very off. They taste alright though, kiddo still likes the cake pops! I posted photos of what I made. I am not a professional by any means, so neither are professional looking. However, you can tell clearly that these candy melts vs the ones from my local grocery store are very different in the finished product.

This product is absolutely awful, I should’ve listened to the reviews. I thought it would be so convenient to have this delivered one day and I have to deal with going to Michael’s, but I wish I just went to the store because this item would not melt properly and was like concrete. I’m not sure if it has been stored improperly or if the items are expired, but they are not the normal Wilton quality candy melts. Don’t waste your money!

Before anyone thinks my methods were just wrong I’ll let you know all that I tried. The classic slow hot water , the quick microwave, the silicon cup in hot water and in microwave and last the glass in hot water pot. Non worked. My guess is because it arrived slightly melted and with these you can’t re heat/melt it will clump up like it did in the pictures. So overall taste was good packaging average and well I didn’t get to see the consistency.

First of all. Melting this chocolate was a hassle. I normally melt my chocolate on a double boiler but couldn’t get this to melt after 12 minutes. I put it in the microwave for 30 second intervals and it took 4-5 tries to melt. It never melted like a flowy melted chocolate consistency (like Wilton chocolates used to do) but it only kept getting a marshmallow it consistency. I thought I might have over heated it and tried again. Nope. This chocolate is totally different than it was a couple of years ago. It sucks and it took forever to get smooth chocolate shapes for my cake pop decorations. Don’t waste your time on this use regular supermarket chocolate instead.
