The only problem I've been having is that every time I use this sheet, the silicone warps a little when exposed to the heat of the oven. The mat doesn't lose its shape or anything, but it does sort of "fluff" and bend in places, almost like fabric ruffles. Which isn't so bad if you're making oatmeal/chocolate chip or soft cookies. But if you're making cookies that need to keep their shape, like sugar cookies, this warping does affect the shape; in every batch I bake there are always one or two cookies that get ruined because of this.
Maybe there is something I don't know or am not doing correctly? I've never used any other silicone mat, so I'm not sure if this is just how they all react in the oven.
Every single pro I listed above began a steady decline into a con with repeated use. Despite following the manufacturing directions about care and use, and never using it above recommended temperatures, the product began to malfunction. It started to warp. The edges thinned out. It got massively discolored, which if that were simply a side effect of use, I wouldn't list it as a con. However, that discoloration then began to leech onto my food. As the discoloration became more intense, the non-stick properties began to fail. Eventually, cookies became more stuck to this mat than they ever did to my baking sheet. The mat also warped to the point that it would no longer lie flat on my sheet. I bought two, and one failed spectacularly fast and ended up in the trash shortly after my return period ended. The second lasted much longer, though its peak performance window was pretty much identical to the first.
I probably used this much too long. Let's hope I didn't contract anything fatal from eating food that touched this mat. However, I really wanted this to work. The price is ideal, the color (superficial, I know, but it drew me in) is lovely, and it just worked so nicely at first.
I definitely do not recommend this product, even if you rarely bake. It's a garbage product, obviously not meant for repeated use.Read more ›
these are still holding up like new after several years of heavy use and quite a few pounds of hot candy poured on them
I have been looking for easier ways to make my candy and also reduce waste. These pan liners are great. i use them for my hard candy such as peanut brittle and toffee and I no longer have to butter my pans or line them with foil.
These take great heat changes as I pour my syrup out onto the pan and it is at about 300 degrees. when the candy sets it just comes right off. And also being flexible allows me to crack the candy on the mat then pick it up and use the mat to pour the pieces into my containers.
I have not used them for baking as I bake on stones anyway.
Well, this little baking sheet works great to protect the surface and is heat resistant enough that the solder doesn't even deform the surface. When I'm done, I just dust off the sheet into the trash, then roll it up and put it on the shelf.
Overall, a great little protector at a very low cost!
